Can these be used in 3 step sequencing and work our way up to 6 step sequencing?

Yes, these can easily be used for 3 step sequences although I'd recommend using the Spark Jr. to move from 3 step to 6 step and then use Spark 1 and 2 as full 6 step sequences. There is a lot of reasoning that can be targeted using these cards. They're fabulous!

How many hours of activity do the cards supply?

These cards are very detailed and open-ended. The timing will vary depending on the skills and level of the children using them. We have had therapists that have used one story set of cards in a mixed therapy group for an entire session. There is no fixed amount of time for the cards.

My child has trouble with the main idea of pictures and gets distracted by all the details in the pictures. Would these cards help him?

I think these would be great for that issue. You could have him figure out what's going on in each scene, sort of labeling the scene, then he could sequence them, and once you review the story, he can give the story a name, which also exercises his ability to see the main idea. To see the forest and not only the trees...
