Review: Great little speaker for dialing in your mixes - This is a great addition to my studio. Has really helped fine tune mixes. Things jump out here a lot more clearly than they will on say a pair of Yamaha HS5s or similar. I'm just using one Avantone mix cube in mono. I believe the one is all you need, though it would be nice to have 2 for better fine tuning of stereo field. I suggest starting with one and going from there. You should really be checking your mixes in mono regardless. Bottom line -> Get your mix sounding nice and tight on this not so great sounding, but very honest speaker, and then switch back to your main monitors and be amazed at the improvement. Not having this or similar was def a weak link in my mixing environment. Highly recommend for anyone serious about improving their mixes.

**Q: Can this also be used with 220V outlets?**
A: From Avantone’s website: “AC Input: This input is only to be use with the proprietary AVANTONE Power Supply. Tighten the cable/connector securely for reliable operation. Note: There is a switch on the power supply for selecting the proper AC/MAINS operating voltage for your location.”

So it sounds like it should be fine with 220V

**Q: Can i connect it directly to my macbook pro? in the case, what cable do i need? thank you.**
A: Its connections are Balanced XLR & TRS Input. This cube is specifically designed for Audio Mixing purposes to give a very flat mid to high frequency response. It is not an audiophile's dream, it is more like an old mono TV speaker or cheap boom box which is something a mixing engineer would care about as he strives to make his product sound good in all environments, hi-fi and lo-fi... It is also "active" which means it has its own amplifier on board and requires AC power (supplied power/cord comes with). You cannot use your computer Headphone jack to drive this puppy... A: it is mono & B: the wiring is different from headphones and balanced trs/xlr... I'm not sure what your purpose is, but if you just want to listen to music this may be your worst choice...

**Q: Do these come in a pair of 2 Monitors?**
A: No this is for a single monitor. I bought it to reference for mono compatibility.

**Q: How to make a mono connection to a 1/4 headphone output?**
A: You should be able to set your DAW, your interface, or all output to MONO, then use a TRS to TRS or TRS to XLR cable to the cube. You will want to unplug or otherwise silence your regular monitors. I haven't even tried to use a head phone jack but a TRS to TRS might suffice.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Get 2!

They sound so bad it's great! Just bought one for mono referencing and so far it's extremely helpful for dialing in harmonic distortion on bass/808s to where they'll translate on a cell phone, bluetooth speaker, etc. I feel like it's a hard speaker to learn though, especially with just one in mono. I mix in mono 80% of the time with my HS8s but with these, vocals seem to stick out over everything and drums are barley present. I would assume using them in stereo would be a bit more bearable to where I'm not forced to listen to/mix vocals louder than everything else. Definitely a learning curve to these, but worth every penny.
