Gate opening is wider than many similar carabiners making it easy to clip ladders, heavy chains, metal pins etc. The wide end has a good smooth curve for belaying. Just a nice feel to it, well made. I like the red safety indicator Petzl uses for when not screwed closed

I've been using mostly Petzl for biners for 30 years. And pretty much only Petzl for belay biners. They are simply rock solid and bomb proof. Love 'em.
