The one thing that I wish this mug had is a indicator light on both sides. I sit the cup on the left of my keyboard. This puts the indicator light where I can't see it. Other than that, it keeps the coffee warm the whole time. Based on some reviews, I bought a lid for this mug. However, I don't think it is necessary. The mug comfortably holds 220 grams/ounces. That's about a third less of what I usually brew. So, there's less to drink and less time for the coffee to go cold. But, if you're outside or on the road traveling, this mug will keep your coffee warm and the lid will serve to mainly keep stuff out of it or prevent spillage.

The original review was accurate, but now that I've had the mug for 6 months (Originally 3 star), I have to reduce its rating... The mug itself is great, works well, and does what it says. It keeps my drinks at the temperature I set it to. The reason I'm reducing the rating here for 2 reasons. 1) Trying to reach an actual person or something more intelligent than an automated help desk, is seeming to be nearly impossible. - To expand on this: I have been unable to find any contact information to report any issues I do have with the mug or software (I have no issues with the mug so far, but the software annoys me to no end). 2) The software for the mug is so far below par, that they might as well just have a digital display on the side to show the temp and just set it that way. - Let me expand on this: a) If you don't keep your mug paired, ie: carry it with you 100% of the time, anytime it isn't paired, it forgets its pairing, and you have to go through the pairing procedure again to reconnect it. My car is a 2014, and the BlueTooth in it remembers my phone when I start it up, but this mug cannot. b) There's no way to override the heating to ON, if the sensor doesn't trigger to say the mug isn't empty, it won't turn on, even in the software Bluetooth connection. Through some digging, it states that it determines if it's empty by the significant difference in temperature: The mug is cold, pour warm to hot fluid in it, and it detects the temp change and determines it's not empty. I understand this is probably a safety feature to prevent the mug from burning out, but there should be some way to turn it on when you put room temp liquid into a room temp mug. (I usually make a batch of tea, and if I don't finish it all in a day, I use it the next day, I shouldn't have to microwave the first cup just to get it hot enough for the mug to realize it's full.) So in summary: -The mug is absolutely great, so far it's held up fine, with no chips/scratches. Works great to keep temp set. -Software needs a LOT of work. The biggest issue is the Bluetooth connection/protocol. I shouldn't have to re-pair it every day just to connect to the mug to change it from Tea to coffee, or some other temp for a different drink. -Better contact forms, for when you can't resolve the problem via automated help. I'm hoping that by rating this at only 1 star, maybe I'll get a way to contact the company, or at least they'll read this review and take the issues under advisement. Maybe even make a suggestions/complaints form to get these issues noticed so they know what to work on. Until I see a way to contact a live person, even if it's just email, or something simple, I cannot rate this higher than a 1. IF I were having a real issue with this mug (like it not working) I'd be out the money it cost me to buy it. Con's: It's for Right Handers, if you're left-handed, (or hold the mug in your left hand), the LED is on the back side where you can't see it (less of a problem while you're actually holding it), but if you set it down for grabbing with your left hand you can't see the LED. The software is a little glitchy. I tried setting it to Celsius for a little bit, then when I tried to switch it back to Fahrenheit, it wouldn't switch, I had to reset the app completely to default to get it back to Fahrenheit. Couldn't find a contact form for issues (like the above software glitch), or suggestions.

I bought two of the 14oz white Ember Mugs. The mugs are very reliable and work as advertised. However, there is a problem with the chargers. After using them for a few months one of the mugs stopped working. Turns out the charger charging “pins” had gotten depressed and was not making contact. No idea how that happened but my husband used a small tweezer and was able to pull it out so that it works. Every few weeks it happens again and he pulls the pin out again. But he said this last time the pin got depressed so deep that he did not think he could get a grip on it. He eventually managed it. So today the same thing has happened the other charger. This one is rarely used. I’m not happy. This is clearly a defect with these chargers. To make it worse I came to Amazon to just order a new charger and they no longer have white chargers. I gave these mugs a rave review on Amazon when I first got them, but I wanted to make potential buyers aware of this issue. I just read many reviews that mention this same issue so I am sure that Ember is aware of it. Mug are great, chargers can be defective. Obviously without the charger the mug does not work.

I'm very excited about this mug. I had a white one for a year and a half, but kept it on the charger too much so it "died". The thing I like about the Stainless one is that it won't show the spoon marks on the bottom of the mug like the white one did. Plus the white one stained too. So I'm thrilled with this one!

First, the Ember Smart Mug does exactly what it says it will do. So it would not be fair to give it less than 5 stars. If you set the temp on your app to 145, it will keep your drink at 145. It is easy to use. Once you have paired it to your phone initially, you never have to think about it again. Just hand wash it, put it on the charging coaster, and it will ready the next day. BUT DOES IT SOLVE THE COLD COFFEE PROBLEM? Ember is expensive. For that price, it should ensure I never have cold coffee again. Unfortunately, that is not entirely true. Ember will keep your coffee hot, but only until the battery runs out. For the 14 oz mug, this takes around 1.5 hours when fully charged. Like most coffee drinkers, you might down the first cup in 15 minutes, the second over the next 1/2 hour, but that last cup may sit on your desk for an hour or more while you're busy. Then when you get a moment to take a sip; ugh, cold disgusting coffee. So the WHOLE story is that Ember will keep the first and 2nd cups piping hot, provided you finish them within the 1.5 hour battery life. But honestly, I didn't search for a $120+ coffee cup for the first 2 cups of the day. I searched for a way to keep that 3rd cup hot, for an hour or more if possible. My first attempt to work around the short battery life was to use a standard coffee cup for the first 2 cups, and then use Ember for the 3rd. This did help, and the 3rd cup stayed hot longer. But not long enough for me. And should I really have to jump through extra hoops for a coffee cup that costs over $120?? I didn't think so and had made up my mind to return it. DON'T GIVE UP, THERE IS HOPE! Thankfully, before giving up and sending Ember back, I searched on Ember's website for ways to extend the battery life. And there I found the HOLY GRAIL... EMBER can heat your coffee while sitting on the "newly redesigned charging coaster", WITHOUT using your battery! WHY didn't I find this sooner! All I had to do was move the charging coaster to my desk, instead of next to the coffee pot. Clouds parted, stars aligned, and now my 3rd cup will stay hot all day if I want. And I don't notice any difference with the coaster on my desk. It is so slim and sleek, I don't even notice it sitting in that spot that was reserved for my coffee cup anyway. FINALLY, HOT COFFEE ALL DAY! I would give Ember 6 starts if I could, for finally solving the cold coffee dilemma. Thank you Ember for such an amazing product. Might be worth HIGHLIGHTING the ability to keep your cup hot for hours provided the charging coaster is used.

Ember cups are a fantastic concept and incredibly useful, but I’ve encountered some challenges with the company's aftercare service. It's frustrating that I've had to rely on Amazon for repeated replacements of my cups. For users who utilize them often, it can become a hassle to request repairs or full replacements regularly. It’s disappointing, especially considering the investment. I hope the company can improve their customer support to match the quality of their product!

The Ember Smart Mug 2 can keep your tea/coffee at the perfect temperature for hours, making every sip as good as the first. However if you like very very hot tea then this product is not for you. Because usually we like tea to be very hot. In short it does not give you a boiling hot tea. just enough to keep it not cold.

The best addition to my office desk. Could have better pricing.
