BUY THIS - IT WORKS! Broke the habit in our 4 year old
Our child has sucked his two fingers since about an hour after birth when the freakin' hospital pediatrician taught him how to soothe himself by sticking his two fingers in his mouth. AND IT WAS A BOND NOT MEANT TO BE BROKEN. Gosh dang lady. When he turned 3, his dentist started getting concerned about the formation of his teeth - rightfully so - because they were pulling forward and out. It was noticeable when he smiled. Cute, but still not probably how teeth should be. We tried our own tactics and by the time he was 4, we got him to a point to where he would only do it to get him to fall asleep but even still, he was still doing it and relying on it. The gloriously sneaky internet cookies served me an ad for this and so we decided to try it. We amped him up big time about how we were going to get him a SUPER AWESOME GLOVE to help him not need to suck his fingers. We told him he could still suck his fingers if he wanted to with the glove on (which you can, but because of the design, it doesn't create suction so there's no 'reward' sensation for doing so). He was unsure. And he's stubborn AF so we were nervous. First night: I put it on a little too loosely and he houdini'd his fingers out and sucked on them. His wrist was all red and torn up from pulling at it to free his fingers. Scrappy little bro. Night two: We learned our lesson and got a roll of gauze, and medical tape to protect his skin, THEN put the glove on and then band. WORKED LIKE A CHARM AND HE WAS PISSED. Actually he was fine. It took him awhile to fall asleep but he eventually did. And so this was our process every time moving forward. We left the glove on for night time, then kept it on through the morning so that it would stay on at nap, then we'd cut it off so he had a break from after nap through dinner, and would put it back on right before bed. It got to a point where he would remind us that it needed to go on. And he really didn't have trouble falling asleep after maybe 5 days of wearing it. He wore it for something like 40 days (he was a fan of the included star chart) and was done. We forgot to put it on him one night and he didn't suck his fingers (you can tell because his fingers weren't all wrinkly) and that was it! He hasn't sucked even one time since!

It works!!
Review and update! I purchased this item back in March of 2022. My daughter was 2 years old at the time. It wasn't easy, but 4 years later she still does not suck her fingers so I can honestly say it worked. I paid attention to when she is stressed in moments when I take it off and try to distract her by teaching coping methods. Not just reliant entirely on the glove although it was a big help. The real challenge was at bedtime. We made sure the glove was on and substitute with her favorite toy. It took us a total of 3 months to see some changes. The glove is comfortable and she was also understanding of why it was being done. So happy I bought this! Its a process guys. 1.we had a talk b4 we started 2. We understood what stresses her and taught other coping skills.3 bed time routine was the biggest challenge.and taught other comfort/coping skills. 4. Its a process with lots of talking and hugs! Hope this helps.

Trading One Problem For A Worse One
Buyer beware: this will ABSOLUTELY impair your child's hand use! First of all, it is extremely thick plastic, WAY moreso than it needs to be, so it's difficult to bend (even as an adult) - unless your kid is the hulk. Second, the two fingers are FUSED together! Why?? Absolutely no reason. If the surrounding plastic keeps children from wanting to suck their fingers, why would the two fingers have to be connected to one another? Completely senseless, and again, doesn't allow the child use of those fingers. We'd noticed these issues ourselves, but the final straw was having a friend of ours who's a physical therapist caution us about trying to have the device on as little as possible - while 30 days will break a finger sucking habit, you'll have a whole other problem when your child can no longer use those fingers normally. Shameful and outrageous, especially for such an expensive product in the first place.

MUST READ THIS
Ok, here's the real deal. My son has been a chronic sucker (index and middle) since we unswaddled him at around 6months. Because the hand was so small he did find a way to maneuver his digits out during time alone in his crib. We gave up for several months and almost threw away the product thinking it was worthless. We revisited again after almost 6 months and found reviews mentioning use of a glove IN ADDITION TO the aero finger tguard. DO EXACTLY THAT. find a glove (breathable cotton and slim), not a snow glove and not mittens. We found a pair of "kids paw patrol gloves". Wear the glove under the tguard and DO NOT give up the fight. The will pull at it like a badger for 5-10 days tops. The glove helps to protect the wrist strap from digging into the skin while also making it thick enough where the can't wiggle out their fingers. The oral fixation was so strong, we had to continue treatment for slightly over 90 days. At day 60 we tried a night without it and he sucked to comfort himself back to sleep when waking up from a night terror. We continued treatment for another 30 days and then weened him down to glove only. (He even asks for his glove because he is somused to it now) we've been successful for about 1 week now without a glove. Course of treatment was started around 3 years and 7months old to 3 years 10 months. Stick with it, don't give up 💪🏻 . We found other wrist straps on Amazon that were a bit less expensive than tguard. The straps were a bit thicker than tguard brand but still work just barely. Tguard is a bit overpriced for their extra wrist straps trying to squeeze the consumer for $$. Hunt around and you find 100+ straps for much less. Good luck.

Soft, flexible, easy to clean, effective
Our son is 3 and has sucked his first two finger upside down since birth. Our dentist and doctor told us to not worry "he will grow out of it" " those teeth will fall out later" and as he keeps sucking, his teeth, palate and speech has all been effected. We tried discipline, rewards, finger nail polishes galore that tasted bad, taping gloves on his hand and even Tabasco sauce (maybe mean, but he liked the taste!). After much research we decided to buy this product. A bit pricey, but worth the cost in the end. We are only on day 7, but it already has made progress. He doesn't put his hands in his mouth at all. The strap seemed to rub at first, but he does not complain it hurts and after removing the strap for 10 minutes each night, the rub mark goes away. The guide and sticker chart included are a bonus! The material is soft and very easy to clean. The disposable bands make it so he cant remove the product himself and easy to change out daily, give the skin some rest and wash the device before putting it right back on. So far very pleased and excited for the recommended day 30 to see if this did the trick.

Worked but gave my child blisters
So...this did help us with the initial push to break the habit. However, it's cut pretty wide/large on the sides, which resulted in the glove rubbing in several spots and causing blisters, and the bracelet part had to be positioned and tightened to a degree that left serious marks on her wrist that took a while to fade and disappear. I mean, it did what I got it to do. But I have a hard time recommending it after seeing the aftermath. She was almost 3, and we bought the recommended size. I would say, if you've tried everything else and stopping the finger sucking is a mountain you're willing to die on, then go for it. This should not be a first-stop resource for anyone, but rather the parent desperate to stop the cycle of sickness from a child constantly sucking fingers.

Needs improvement
My daughter has been sucking on her index and middle finger to self sooth since pretty much birth, she now only does it to put herself to sleep, this product seemed perfect to get her off this habit unfortunately it's made to soft, she waits till he have left the room after putting her down to sleep in less that 2 min she has managed to slip her fingers out, the supplied straps are tight as can be without cutting her, the soft material allows her to force stretch it just enough, I know because she got stuck in it once and cried for help, it's a very good idea just wished the material would be a bit more stiff

Buy this now!
My only regret with purchasing this is that I didn't buy it sooner! My 2 year old has been sucking her middle and ring finger since she was a few months old. I have tried everything- glove, cast, nail polish, even Wasabi! Nothing helped or she could take it off. I had this on her for 25 days and then slowly weaned her off. And voila! She has not attempted to suck her finger!!!! It comes with an instruction book which i thought was a bit much at first but turned out to be very helpful. Even has a sticker page to track progress. I ran out of bands due to doubling up at first when I didn't need it but just bought more. She faught me at first but then it became the norm. I only took it off for showers since she was too distracted to suck her fingers. Other than that, she had it on every moment- playground, jumping park, school, dinner, everything. I love this! Only problem we had is that she chewed it a little and it broke on the side, but still wearable.

Successful for our 2-year-old son
I felt like I had to write a review as there has yet to be any Canadian reviews! My son began sucking his index and middle finger around 8 months old and we believed he would out grow it. We noticed it was becoming a problem when his first 2 fingers were becoming deformed/bent due to chronic sucking. I asked everyone you could think of for advice - parents, family members, social media, etc. I finally found my way over to this product on Amazon. It might not be as popular in Canada due to the price-tag, it cost us $150 Canadian and now I see it is $229 Canadian. *Note* (As per other reviews) the T Guard does not come with enough bracelets to make it effective IMO. We did order another set of bracelets from the T Guard company from Amazon for $100 CDN, so again another pricey item, however it is worth it if it can help stop the habit. We began the treatment at 23 months in the summer-time as I am a teacher and I knew I could commit the time and energy required. I will be honest -- sleep was TOUGH! It was pretty much 3-4 weeks of very poor sleep and napping as he was so used to self-soothing by sucking his fingers. I eventually had to re-sleep train him. It was some trial & error to help him sleep -- introducing stuffed animals, blankies, etc. We ended up doing treatment longer than 30 days as when he had the glove off he would still put his fingers in his mouth. We kept the glove on during the day for about 50 days and will now stick to only over-nights (we have lots of extra bracelets now to do this). I will add -- as a teacher, I wanted to approach this in a more 'holistic' way and incorporate social stories and figure out what my son's sensory needs are to really help him break this habit. And it helped! For example, I printed photos of my son doing activities that required his fingers and hands, e.g. "fingers are for riding your bike" we would read this story everyday and then he would be able to recite the mantra back. "Fingers aren't for sucking." So, if he began placing his fingers in his mouth we would be able to remind him what fingers are for. Secondly, I researched sensory needs and why children suck their fingers -- could be 'oral sensory seeking' or proprioceptive sensory seeking behaviours (look it up if you're interested!) Once you look more into it, you'll go down a rabbit hole, but this reminded me of my son ... so to meet his needs we would incorporate 'heavy work' before nap and bedtime, e.g. crashing into couch, carrying heavy items, etc. Lastly, we had my son choose the colour of bracelet he wanted to wear everyday. This helped him have more buy-in! We never treated the glove as a negative thing, also talked about his "super awesome glove" when people would ask. I think he only asked once or twice to have the glove off, other than that he was content wearing it. Finally, I read and re-read other people's reviews, especially four and five star reviews when I was feeling defeated from lack of sleep! Ha. Something that other people have mentioned is finding the right fit so it's not too tight or too loose. We found using athletic tape around the band helpful so it wouldn't bother his wrist and as the day wore on the bracelet loosened up and I never noticed he had any wrist issues with it digging in. All in all, the glove DID work for us. He's had it off now during the day and nap and there has been no finger sucking. I am going to keep it on overnights as he transitions to a new daycare this fall and that can be tough for little ones. Best of luck to other families trying this product, remember it's a commitment! But you can do it and it's worth it in the end :)

Worked perfectly well
After trying several different methods to stop my daughter from sucking her middle and index fingers, I decided to buy this product when she was 16 months old. We only removed it every 2–3 days for cleaning, and I even kept it on during bath time. To my surprise, after just 11 days, she completely stopped sucking her fingers. She is now 18 months old and hasn’t gone back to the habit for over two months. I don’t usually write reviews, but I felt I had to share my experience because I spent a lot of time reading reviews before purchasing and wanted to be sure my money wouldn’t be wasted. Thankfully, it worked for us, and I’m so pleased with the results.

Life Changing
3.5 year old girl, finger sucker day and night. I am an ECE and ITE, so I see this often. We used this product for 2 weeks day and night, changing the band and cleaning it throughly before each night time. Then we went to just using it nightly for the rest of the month. It wow absolutely amazing. You need to go into this knowing that the first 3 days will be absolute garbage, they won’t sleep well, they’ll scream the first night and it will break your heart but that 3rd day it was completely different. I would suggest not changing it or taking it off at all those first 3 days but rather covering it with a glove or plastic bag when they eat or play messy. Make it fun, let them pick the band colour each time. The sticker chart that comes with it is great too. Our daughter worked towards a book and a stuffy and is so proud she gets it this weekend. This is 100% worth it to not need ortho care down the road. I have been recommending this product to every parent. Once your child gets use to it, they don’t even notice it’s there. If you need to take it off and don’t want to put it on again right away, I’d suggest a soft fluffy glove (the cheap ones from the dollarstore) to put it on that hand. My daughter liked to have that for a break sometimes in the 2nd week. Overall, I went in with zero expectations and I am so relieved it worked!

Choking hazard and poor quality
CHOKING HAZARD! After a month and a half of use my daughter is able to chew chunks off which pose a choking hazard. The slots were the bands go through have also torn. Would expect better quality for the price.

Exceptional customer service
I wanted to take the time to applaud t guard on their incredible customer service. I had purchased the size small for my daughter (who is fairly petite) and although we couldn’t make use of the finger guard, they were excellent in making our return and refund an amazing experience. They were excellent to deal with and not only did they fully refund my purchase, they paid my shipping return as well. If you are hesitant in purchasing, don’t be! Because they are dedicated to your customer Experience. I highly recommend!
