The short range pickup mode is excellent (full range of voice with minimum ambient sound) for ...
I've used this mic 3-4 years back as well as this current purchase. Tried out many RODE mics in between. I would prefer this one any day compared to any rode mic in this price range. The short range pickup mode is excellent (full range of voice with minimum ambient sound) for holding the mic in hand (with an extension cable) type interviews. The long range pickup mode works well for general on camera use for good audio of the environment.

Good results for recording video
I used this microphone for recording videos and the result is superior than the video recorded with internal microphone of the camera Canon SX60 HS.

Thing before you buy this
The cable is totaly disappointed, mic is good for a indoor recording. Over all bulid is not good.A mic for this price should be little perfect. Buy a zoom recorder which is better than this.

Disappointingly high level of background hiss (white noise) - useless for recording soft sounds
I bought this mic with a view to using it in a church to provide sound reinforcement for some of our speakers who are quite softly spoken.Unfortunately, the mic produces far too high a level of white noise (hiss)- which is worse on the 'tele' setting - to be usable for this purpose.(Comparative tests with semi-pro sE4400a proved that it isn't the mixer which is the problem)For now, I can possibly get round it with noise gating but I will be looking for a better mic.It would be great for an application where somebody is bawling uut rock music close-mic'ed, but that's not what its advertised as!

Great quality mic for the price
I bought this mic and a Rode Videomic Pro to compare the two. I was amazed at how the quality compared to the Rode mic considering the £100 price difference. You dont have the option to change gain levels or high pass filter like the Rode but with one tweek on editing software you can get rid of the hiss sound, which is the only issue. If you're looking for a mic to start recording youtube content indoors, this is perfect. If you have a bigger budget and want to shoot a short film which includes outdoor shooting then you should look into a more professional stereo mic.Pros:Very cheapdecent quality soundCons:no battery indicatorslightly too long so you cant look through the viewfinder

Good for the price
Nice clear sound, in tele mode (haven't bothered with the wider mode) it rejects sound from the sides nicely. Delivery was fast and well packaged.Only problem is it must be really badly shielded - if you go anywhere near a light or power source it buzzes horribly and makes the sound unusable! Maybe that's just a problem with 3.5mm microphones in general. We've fixed it by buying an XLR adapter and cable, and making sure we cover the plug with our hands when near lights!

A Great bit of Gear and Good Investment.
A great bit of gear, the sound quality is crisp & incredible, the microphone is built very solid and the added mounts are sturdy. However just to let you know the image seems to be outdated as large audio jack adapter shown in it isn't specified in the 'what's in the box' list and isn't included with the other items in the packaging.Overall I am very happy with this microphone and it is a good investment.

Pretty Good
Overall a very sound microphone, it has some amazing distance on tele setting and is very crisp and clear. So for the price its very good. However it does seem to give out a lot of hiss on the tele setting and is annoying to have to sort the audio out later to remove the hiss. But still this is very solid, sturdy and well built mic that is great for the price.
