Is the wattage low enough it won't keep my child up all night? She likes to read under the covers to fall asleep.

Hi! More importantly, the flashlight does not have an automatic "off". If it is left off all night, the batteries may be drained, and since the bulb cannot be replaced, the flashlight will not last very long.

What kind of bulb does this item have?

It's an LED bulb. Not super bright, but just enough for younger children to enjoy without worry of damaging their eyes. Because of the low lumen output, the battery life is pretty good too. My son loves his. He's had it for several years now and still uses it for reading in the dark, playing outside at night, and camping.

It has a loop at the top. Is a string included to add?

Would this beeasy for a 1 year old to turn on and off?

My kiddos we're 2 and 4 when they got theirs, and didn't have trouble. I'd say some 1 year olds would be able to switch it on.
