It can be mounted anywhere you want but sound may be better from beneath the tv.

Does this fit the Bose Smart Soundbar 300?

As far as I know it only fits the 500 and 700

Are any of the cables for the sound bar still visible after it’s mounted to the wall ?

No cables visible once mounted (unless you want power/ Ethernet/ HDMI connections) It does come with a cable cover but depending on how your set up is, it will only cover so much. I had my cables routed through the wall so nothing visible but the T.V and the Sound bar.
