Cesar Millan Slip Lead Leash | Dog Leash | in Training Leash | (Regular, Blue/Orange)

This leash is the best thing I’ve ever bought for my dog. He’s 1 year and 4 months old, and I’ve bought at least five different harnesses since I got him, including very expensive ones like DogfriendlyCo. He pulls with every single one of them. I bought this leash a while ago, but I only used it once because I was afraid he would get hyperactive and choke himself. He hated it at first and tried really hard to get out of it. Today, after four months, I decided to give it another try and omg! This is the first time I’ve been able to walk him without feeling anxious or embarrassed. He walked by my side the whole time, and the leash stayed loose. Iwould only pull a little when he wanted to go ahead of me. I could tell he enjoyed the walk and so did I. I’ve tried it a couple more times just to make sure it wasn’t luck, but this thing really works. Highly recommend.

Was actually kind of surprised at how quickly my dog respected this leash. He isn't leashed very often, and usually pulls when he is, but for some reason without even pulling, he instantly stayed by my side. I'm not sure how that works, but it did for me anyway. Satisfied with the purchase, and would recommend.

good lead and does a good job for limiting pulling behaviors

I have had this product for a week, and I have nothing but good things to say about it! I debated for a couple of days as to whether or not to purchase it because the price seemed a tiny bit much for what looked like such a simple item. Now I know it’s that very same simplicity that makes this such an effective tool! Best money I could have spent on my dog! I’ve had my rescue Patterdale Terrier for a little under 3 months and I have quickly found out he is far from being perfect. It has taken a lot of time to begin working on correcting some of his problems, one at a time. Like many dogs, he also pulls when being walked. So what did I do as a regular person in need of quick dog tips? I searched up Cesar Millan videos on YouTube. 😂 I had purchased a Flexi leash two weeks after adopting my dog, and he broke it within another two weeks. While it was disappointing when I first found out, I now see it as a blessing in disguise. Paying close attention on YouTube, I noticed common features in all of the videos where the owners had pulling problems. Most owners in these videos had Flexi leashes, and the dog is always walking in front of the owner, not besides them. All Cesar uses to start making a change are leads just like this one. He never explicitly promotes his lead on his show, but after seeing the immediate increased control using such a simple tool, I decided to look online and found this. So I figured, why not? My dog is 28lbs, so he isn’t big enough to overpower and drag me during a walk. After the Flexi broke, I resorted to using a regular hook-through-the-collar leash. The pulling problem was still there, and would only get worst if we came across a squirrel. As soon as we started using this lead, he’s become much more responsive to my corrections. As soon as he is too far in front of me, even without actually pulling, I give it a quick, gentle tug and a “Chh!” and he‘s learned that he needs to slow down. If he actually pulls and won’t immediately respond to my correction, we’ll sometimes stop walking altogether until he sits, calms down, and realizes that we’ll only walk at my pace. This lead has helped tremendously and there’s rarely ever any tension on the lead when walking now. It’s hard to believe it has only been a week since I’ve started using it, and I don’t believe I’ll go back to using the traditional leash unless absolutely necessary. I would definitely purchase this again! And no, I have not been paid by anyone, nor was I sent this by any company to review it. Just a regular girl who is so happy to have found something that is actually seeming to work!

I had originally bought a long leather leash that had different configurations for use for a two year old, not leash trained, Aussie. It was nice for long lead letting him run a bit but when you had to gain control again it just wasn't working and I struggled most of the spring and summer. So I purchased a Cesar slip lead and it really was a game changer. By the third walk, he got it. I'm short so the 4-1/2 foot length is perfect. The width of the leash material makes it very comfortable for the dog. Now that he is much better trained the leash can actually droop around his shoulders so it is almost like off leash walking. It is also quick to re-tighten when needed. If I had to criticize something it would be when your hand sweats the leash gets a little slippery but it is not really a problem. I can open my hand and the loop will stay around my wrist due to it not being limp like other leash loops. I highly recommend this leash. I wasn't going to mess around, I was going to buy the real deal.

I love watching and following wisdom of Cesar Milan, so it was a no brainer to spend 20 bucks on a leash that could cost me $10 from another brand :) UPDATE: After few weeks since posting original review, the leash came apart. And my 70 lb Lab didn't even pull... Perhaps it was a defective piece, or perhaps it was something else, but it left me dissapointed. I ended up purchasing a cheaper leash that is still great today. Because of that, I have to reduce my rating from 5 to 3 stars. I was surprised to learn that Cesar's leash has a little bit of a give. Its not just a rope, it has some flexibility, so it stretches slightly upon a pull. Unfortunately 4' turned out to be a little too short for a Labahoola and we had to go back to our old leash. Also noticed a spot where threads came apart from what seems to be a bite. Not sure how that happened because our old leash has been in our dog's mouth several times without getting damaged. This one must've been chewed on, which is unlikely.as we put the leash away after walks and our dog has toys and bones to chew on. My conclusion would be, because of the stretchy material inside, fibers surrounding it are thinner and more likely to be broken from a bite than a regular rope leash.

I don't know if it's different from other slip leashes but I bought it anyways. My only complaint is I can't slip it around my wrist with a slip knot and my dog likes to pull. I know I know it's a training leash not meant for regular walking. But I was out late with her just out front. She seen a neighbor and got away from me to get to him. My dog is non people aggressive and just wants to meet strangers. People with dogs like mine know what I mean. So she got loose from my grip. Luckily I'm not stupid and had her shock collar on with the remote around my neck. I was able to stop her with a quick zap and make her walk back to me. Just so you know it's goes to level 15 and I only use level 5 to snap her out of whatever triggers her. I use the tone first then the vibrate. The vibrate usually works cause she knows the shock is next. I hate to use it but sometimes you have to. Like hmmm, my dog got away and is about to jump in the lake and chase the ducks in the water. That needs a shock before she jumps in. The reason I use that example is I've done it. This sounds like a review on the shock collar which I also bought here. Believe me if you have a dog that is resistant get a shock collar.

This is everything I hoped it would be. Very high quality, sturdy, soft and smooth in your hand, with a slight give. If you use the techniques Cesar recommends this works like a charm. I have previously ordered more expensive leashes that looked similar to this, but upon arrival they were thick, unyielding, and just bulky. This coils nicely in your hand and if I keep myself in a calm, assertive mindset my dogs follow easily. I have seen a lot of questions here about what the extra black metal loop is for. I saw Cesar use this lead to loop over the dogs nose (in his new show), and although he didn’t explain it, nor can I find any videos or pictures about this feature, I believe that’s what it is for. I included some pictures of how to do it. I’m not sure if we will need this feature but it’s nice to know I have that option. It basically turns the lead into one of those “gentle leaders” that controls their head more. I may need it for my other dog (shown in the background) who is very reactive to wildlife on our walks. It does make the leash much shorter obviously. This is the “one size fits most” option, but I also just ordered the “large” size as well, thinking a longer option might be nice for walking both of my dogs on my left side. I wasn’t able to find the length of the “large” option, so I will update when it arrives. If you are familiar with Cesar’s techniques, and know how to make quick corrections and have (or want) your dog to follow you, this is a great tool. It takes practice and patience, but my dogs are no longer strangling themselves on walks, and seem much happier. I hope this is helpful!!
