This is why all books should have editors
The technical quality of this book is very high. So is readability. I would give it 5 stars except that the book was obviously produced without review by an editor. That and it being printed on cheap paper makes for a very inexpensive book. That is good, but still the English is, at the very least, eccentric. Still as I said the readability is high so it is more cute than a real distraction.

... anything at all about operating systems you would be better of skipping this and getting something else
This is an elementary book so if you already know anything at all about operating systems you would be better of skipping this and getting something else. But even so, it is poorly edited. There are a lot of sentences that just don't make sense. I bought this because it was inexpensive compared to other OS books. I guess you get what you pay for.

A little heady
The chapter I am interested in was chapter 10 file systems , it is written with high level design in mind I am more into low level driver design at the assembly level. But it is a good read and useful to the standard driver maker.
