Extra useful for the tinkerers amongst us
We bought this for my son when he was little, and as-is it has been the perfect sleep time companion. However, in recent weeks we noticed the included power cable had worn through. It's no big deal, I'm more than capable of resolving it. Rather than opt for a replacement cable, I purchased some USB-C panel mount plugs, which is perfect since I always have them handy and no longer care to keep the warranty intact (great upgrade if you can swing it) Through the upgrade process, I noticed something I didn't expect. There was a MICRO SD card slot with a no-name 4gb card. Out of curiosity, I loaded into my PC, and was surprised to see that it was formatted as fat32 with raw MP3 files, organized in folders based on the button that is pressed. Each file is a 4hr long loop, but it's not necessary (at least it doesn't seem to be). Me being curious, I went to YouTube, found a public domain rendition of Brahms Luluby, loaded into a free online MP3 converter, and dumped it in one of the folders. A short reassembly proved that it worked! It seems to be a basic MP3 player that is set to repeat the current song and uses the buttons to select the playlist. Each song repeats without additional input. I finished my modifications, loaded it with tunes (I opted to remove all of the bird songs, but wasn't necessary), and now I have a fully functional, custom sleep machine. While am unintended feauture, would definitely recommend for those willing to tinker a bit. Aside from all of that though, the battery circuit could use a redesign. It basically runs in parallel with a blocking diode, which explains the poor battery life when plugged in with the batteries installed. It's enough to keep the USB from blowing up the battery, but not enough to keep the batteries and the USB from both powering the device. Would recommend picking one or the other to use. Notes for future models: USB C power, proper battery switch circuit, externally accessible SD for customization

Great product
Love it but only on the fan setting the others aren't as loud.

Cord-free, stress-free…no cord for my cat to chomp on
This little white noise machine is a game changer. It’s cordless, the battery life is surprisingly good, and it has a timer with tons of sound options to pick from. Super easy to use and perfect for travel or bedside. Five stars for making falling asleep (and staying asleep) so much easier. Great size, light weight, and easy enough to use that it travels with me. It’s not bright—and the buttons are simple to read. Works very well! 5 stars.

A large range of sounds for an exceptional price
I read a lot of sound machine reviews before picking this unit. Price was a major factor, in that, if it wasn't good enough it wasn't so expensive to replace. A lot of people complained about the volume control not functioning well. Some people went to the trouble of opening the unit to spray the contacts on the volume control to try to correct the problem. I have owned a simaliar looking product (possibly the same manufacturer) for many years and have had to wiggle and jiggle the volume control knob to get a steady sound. So I knew what to expect with this unit. So far there has been no trouble with the volumecontrol. But, every so often it stops making noise. It immediately starts back up again. As far as I know it has never awakened me but when awake I hear it stutter now and then. Not a good thing for the unit to be doing and I am afraid it will someday not start back up. I am concerned for the units longevity. The types of sounds and being able to choose between three different forms of these sounds is amazing. I have found some very soothing sounds and I switch between these on a regular basis. I have owned many sound machines. Some of these machines are very compact for travel (hence the 3 stars for traveling). None of these machines have offered such a variety of sounds. As far as sounds go, they get 5 stars.

It sounds pretty good
Most of the sounds are great and you can tell that they were recorded well. I listened to all of them for a while and I didn't notice any looping, very seamless. Bonus points for the headphone jack and battery option. Remembers the last setting you used. White noise: more like a hiss, I don't like this one so much Fan: really sounds like somebody recorded a server cooling fan, kind of weird but better than the hiss Ocean waves: Seriously sounds like they recorded the ocean and it's nice. Birds: nice song bird chirpy sounds with no other background noise. Water running: sounds like water running in a trough, not like a stream Night sounds: just crickets, nice. Thunderstorm: Nice rolling thunder sounds from far away with gentle rain sounds. I like this one the best BUT the tiny speaker just doesn't do the thunder justice with no bass at all. Even on headphones the thunder doesn't really have much bass. Woods: Frog sounds with an odd muffled flowing water in the background. This one sounds muffled and weird. The unit is small and light with option to run from batteries so it's great for traveling!

For the cost and value this unit is excellent. I’m using it for the first time in my hotel room during my annual work deployment meeting. Ventilation system is so loud, when it kicks on and off it used to wake me. I didn’t hear a thing last night I slept soundly the whole night. I didn’t hear people talking in the hallway. I love that it has the capability to be used when the power goes out with a few batteries I live in the country so power outages happen quite often and I find it hard to fall asleep again when I can’t hear the fan.

Works well so far. It has quite a few options although we only use the fan it could be interesting to try other options. What I like is the fact that it also works on batteries so in the middle of the night when the power goes out, the batteries kick in or if you go camping and there's no electricity, you still have your noise machine.

Pretty good product, some sounds aren't my thing but at like 4 are. Product is loud and works great. I wanted one that didnt have a timer

I like the sound of the waves for my tinnitus because I love the beach and use only that one. There is variety enough to find your favourite. I like the timer with three settings and the choice to use the battery. With the timer the battery life will be extended.

Works well. It goes very loud and has battery option too. Which is great when we lose power during bad weather
