I watched a video of an esthetician prior to receiving this product who was raving about castor oil, particularly black castor oil. She was describing the characteristics of it and how its made. I'm glad I did. I was better prepared for the scent of it. Had I not known I may have been put off by it. It's not offensive at all. But because it's a nut and the nut is roasted, this is where the "black" color comes from. As a result it has somewhat of a smoky scent to it! If you're looking for something sensual or perfume-y, this isn't it. But the scent does fade after you put it on.BODY: Now, I purchased this with the intent of using it as an all over body moisturizer, head to toe! This says "butter" on the jar, but it's more like cold petroleum jelly and isn't easy to spread. If you plan to use this all over, you will have to mix it with another moisturizer that has more viscosity to make is spreadable. I have hand excema so my skin tends to have dark dry patches and I'm SUPER sensitive to a lot of things. I can't use just anything. This castor oil "butter" has been really helpful in giving my hands a deep moisture and it feels very relieving. Ive also been using it on my lips, even before bed. Now most things with this thickness would make me greasy and I would break out. Nope! This butter absorbs very well into the skin and doesn't leave a greasy feeling.HAIR: I've used it on my hair. I have really curly hair and it drinks anything I put in it. So after day 4 or 5 of washing my hair, my hair gets really dry and feels brittle to the touch. Well, I'm coming up on a week and my hair is still moisturized and it's really soft! It does leave somewhat of a coating on your hair, not greasy. I suspect that this is part of the benefit of the castor oil. Castor oil performs like petroleum jelly but without clogging yours pores. It coats, but without the clog.I'm looking forward to seeing the changes in my hair and skin with this product. I would buy this again! I may try the lavender scent next go round!

Arrived intact, well packaged and on the expected date! I've used the product at least twice now, and it is exactly what I'd read about, and expected.I would recommend this item.

I just received this product today…….I tried it and baby I am IMPRESSED!!! I have dry scalp especially around my edges sometimes and this product melted the dryness and flaking away immediately! I also have naturally curly hair which is prone to dryness and this product moisturized my hair immensely. I applied some onto my hands and face which gave a layer of softness and moisture . I’m going to try it next on my boyfriend as he suffers from eczema and at that point I may update my review . I will also update if there is any hair growth . I didn’t notice a smell at all , and castor oil in general has a smell . 5 stars for sure

Received hair butter today. Started using today for dry flaky psoriasis scalp. So far so good. No signs of skin irritation. Product came quickly and packaged well in bubble wrap.The hair butter is thick so no need to use a lot of it or will most likely cause your to be greasy and heavy. I used very little on my scalp then add more if needed. It's very moisturizing and the scent is light and does not linger.**Will post again for updated reviews. Hoping this will help my itchy scalp.

The product is amazing but the cover is broken.I have purchased this item before .The cover is always broken .

This is an amazing product and I highly recommend everyone gets it! It’s one of my staple products. I’ve used it to replace shine n jam and other products because this is far more natural and has multiple uses. I love using it on my hair and my feet after soaking them and even on my eyebrows.It’s thick but that’s the whole point to me and a little goes a long way.Their customer service is also excellent!!Will come back with photos later.

Product was sealed completely in bubble wrap. Go figures when I unwrapped it, it was greasy outside the entire container. Leakage warning.

I have been waiting for a while to order JCBO butter. I already knew how well the oil form of this worked for me however this butter exceeded my expectations. Even though I will definitely be using this on my hair, I decided to try it on the chronically dry spots n my face in particularly the sides of my nose, my cheeks, eyebrows and a spot on my chin. All I can say is wow! It’s not greasy at all and soaks in very well.But I have to say that this is the original version. I’ve heard other mention that they’ve had some jars with a more solid product and I can’t help but wonder if it was the Coconut variety of this butter especially since coconut oil has a tendency to get quite solid depending on the brand & source.I will be ordering the coconut variety to see for myself and follow up with what I find. Hopefully this will help anyone that may have questions.UPDATE 3/3/22: I have ordered all three varieties, original, lavender and coconut out of curiosity and after reading some reviews concerned about the butter being too hard.The original and lavender are much softer but the coconut is harder, more solid and as I suspected it’s because it contains actual coconut oil which tends to solidify (look at any coconut oil sold in stores and you can see)The only exceptions when coconut is not as solid are if it’s stored above a certain temperature or if it’s fractionated coconut oil which means it’s still good just a bit more processed and part that makes it solid is separated. I’ve personally used it with great results. Perhaps if the company would use this type of coconut oil in their JBCO butter the consistency would be more like the other two varieties without compromising quality. Just saying.I will still keep my coconut variety since I do know how to work with it.
