This product is served on Amtrak. Super good so I bought some! Taste like real mashed potatoes!

Sometimes, I don't feel like waiting for potatoes to cook through. These instant potato flakes are convenient to have on hand for such times. Preparation is super simple. Just add water, milk, salt, and butter. I grew up on this stuff. Quality, taste, and texture are the same as they were back then. For added convenience, I'll premeasure portions of potato flakes, add the proper amounts of salt, dry milk and butter powders. Just add hot water when ready to use. We also use the product in other ways: to thicken soups and stews, make spudnuts and waffles, and it's also become a key ingredient to our go-to pot pie crust recipe. One minor complaint though, the factory packaging doesn't do the best job at maintaining freshness, or totally keep tiny pantry pests out. The quantity is a good value if your family can consume the product by the "Best By" date. We've promptly repackaged the product with oxygen absorbers and kept it in vacuum sealed mason jars to extend the shelf life. However, a 5-gallon food safe bucket will do better a better job than the boxes.

These Idahoan Original Mashed Potatoes are almost as good as homemade. I highly recommend.

As my wife (and myself) have gotten around 80, I don’t begrudge her the ease of making Mashed Potatoes this way! And the flavor and consistency is really great!!

The best substitute for the real thing. Can’t tell the difference. Leftovers hold up nicely Reheats great.

Nothing beats fresh mashed potato’s but if you use real butter and milk these are pretty dang good, convenient, quick and satisfying. I almost always mixin goat cheese, Parmesan, sour cream,yogurt or cream cheese to them.

I like these mashed potato flakes. They're tasty, and the recipe can be customized easily without much difference in quality. But the packaging leaves a bit to be desired; I opened the case and found a tablespoon or two of flakes that had escaped the boxes. It doesn't seem like a significant amount got lost in transit, but it's kinda annoying that the boxes aren't sealed a little better.

I don't make mashed potatoes with these-- I use them as a gluten-free way to thicken almost any sauce. The big value size box in a case of eight is a great price compared to the supermarket.
