Japanese Can Opener (Ganji Kankiri)

Love this can opener. I found it after watching several videos where top chefs recommended it as one of those essential kitchen tools every serious cook should own. They weren’t exaggerating. This thing is built like a tank and has no trouble opening cans of any size. It feels solid in your hand, works smoothly, and inspires confidence every time you use it. I like it so much that it earned a permanent spot on my wall-mounted magnetic knife holder, a space I reserve only for the tools I use the most. It’s one of those products that’s simply well engineered and does exactly what it’s should. Don’t overthink it. Just buy it. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

The browser just refreshed, erasing my review. Sigh. Ok, let's try again. The US Government used to issue a little piece of metal that went on a keychain. Called a P-38, It had a piece that folded out with a point, and was used to open cans of food. There was a notch on the main part that would hook on the rim of a can of food. The point would puncture the top and with working it around the rim and repeatedly puncturing, a can could be opened and the top removed. This opener is Japanese quality, nicely finished and it works about the same. Hook it on the rim of a can of food, rotate your wrist to puncture and cut a groove, then move the opener over a little bit and do it again. And keep doing that until you've gone all the way around. It's fast once you figure it out. No moving parts. Only the point that punctures the can top, so it will probably last as long as I do.

I love this thing. No moving parts, ultimate reliability. Its similar in function to a p-38 can opener, but with this beefy handle. Its very comfortable and works a treat! I would say its the best manual can opener I have come across. It opens cans quickly and effortlessly. It is slower than a crank can opener, but not by much. The blade is stamped out of thick stock and is sharp. I can see this lasting many, many years. It has a bottle opener and a corner to pry with, could be used as a straight slot screw driver in a pinch. On top of all that, the price is so good. I have used worse can openers that cost 5 times what this does. Its my favorite can opener. the only thing it lacks is a can punch, for piercing a can of condensed milk or something similar. So what I do for those is I cut a medium slot on one side of the lid as if i was opening it, stop and rotate the can 180 degrees and cut a small slot for air to get in the can so I can pour. Works well enough. Get this one, you won't regret it.

This is one of those rare buy-it-for-life items. I’ve bought 4! One for the house, camping, the office, and even a gift. Maybe it was user error, but traditional can openers were always breaking on me—stripped gears or something? I bought an expensive brand new opener that broke on me like second can, I was fed up and sought out something that would not break. These have no moving parts to break, they are absolutely perfect.

I had been looking for one like this for a long time, this one works great, I've been using it for months and it's still like new.

Works very well. If you have ever used a p38 or p51 can opener you will appreciate this can opener’s ease of use and simplicity. It works just as fast with better leverage. This style of opener is better then a lot of other style manual can openers IMO. I like p38s and the better p51 and am blown away by this rendition of that simple style. Glad I purchased. Made of robust metal. Out in the garage it quickly opens the cheap tuna cans without pull tops I bought for the cat. But in the kitchen I use an electric opener 🫤

Wish I'd known about this long ago. It does not require a firm grip or strength or any great skill. Easy, fast, comfortable and works with weak grip.

This is literally the greatest device ever. (Okay, maybe not literally literally but it is pretty great.) It’s super easy to use, punches through can lids super easy and it’s super easy to keep clean.

I’ve gone through lots of can openers over the years, and after some research, I picked the Korin. It’s easy to use and feels really sturdy with a sharp blade. Just a heads up, it does leave the edges of the can a bit rough, so be careful if that’s an issue. Overall, I’m happy with it and it seems like it will last.

SUPER DOSENÖFFNER Ich brauchte einen Dosenöffner für Stark verbeulte xxl Dosen für den Gastrobereich die Ränder der Dosen waren so stark verbeult das man die Dosen mit einem Normalen Dosenöffner nicht mehr öffnen konnte. Aber mit DIESEM DOSENÖFFNER konnte man die verbeulten Dosen mit etwas geschickt ruckzuck öffnen. Also wer viel mit verbeulten Konservendosen sich rumärgert beim Öffnen mit einem normalen Dosenöffner der sollte sich DIESEN DOSENÖFFNER ZULEGEN.!!
