Pretty geeky robot
As a disclaimer, I am probably not enough of a geek to fully appreciate everything this robot can do. But out of the box it doesn't work as you need a separate micro:bit board to make it work. Those run $25-30 so that's not too bad but it should have just been in the box to start. The micro:bit board is the part that you can program and that has the wi-fi and bluetooth imbedded on it. So now to review this kit, Im reliant on a processor from another company and when there's an issue - is it compatibility issue, a programming issue, a processor issue or an issue with the components in this kit. I did spend some time on the product's wiki page and figured out how to do some basic programming for it. It's been a challenge but fun. The robot moves fairly smoothly and does a pretty good job of staying stable and self righting. Will need more time to figure it out but it's been fun so far.

Super cool!
I got this for my son and husband to play around with since they are both into robotics and tech. We did have to buy a microbit for it though since it wasn't included, but it didnt cost that much. It was easy for them to build and the instructions were clear. They had to download an app and coding software, and the microbit was easy to plug into the computer and set up. Once done they added the microbit to the robot , powered it on, and it was ready to go. The robot was very responsive and everything functioned as should. Its super small and cute, and manuevers around smoothly. The quality is nice, but it does seem a bit delicate, so just be aware of surroundings when its on the go. Overall they had a fun time with it and learned so much. Very cool robot!

Not worth it, overpriced junk.
I got this through kickstarter and it’s really bad it’s not worth the price at all. Non of the features are working like it should.

Good educational toy, easy to set up, needs additional component to operate.
You will need the microbit to use this, but once it is properly set up, which doesn't take very long, its pretty cool. Its fun and easy to use. This would be a great gift for robotic fanataics or if your kid is interested in being on the robotics teams at school. It is pretty small, smaller than I expected, and I feel its a bit pricey. But my kids like it, and they are more into the robitics thing than I am. It is also a good educational 'toy' as well.

Fun and Technical Bot
The XGO Rider Kit is a cool little balancing robot with good build quality and impressive balancing abilities. This isn’t the kind of toy you’d want to get dirty due to some exposed electronics, but it’s built well enough that I’m confident it can handle being crashed around. The app controller is quite low quality, making it difficult to drive. So don’t expect to operate it like a regular RC car. However, it is fun to explore its different movements and learn about its capabilities. A Micro:Bit is a great addition (not included), but the included protective case causes the Micro:Bit not to fit with the XGO Rider Kit, rendering the case unusable when I need it the most. Overall, I'm happy with the "ELECFREAKS Micro:bit XGO Rider Kit Makecode Programing Two-Wheeled Robot, Self-Balancing Car Bionic Built-in IMU and Brushless Motor All-Metal Servo, Opens Underlying Python Protocol (Without microbit)".
