Pricey for what it is but it works
Selling an IR receiver built into a serial port plug sold for almost $100 seems a bit ridiculous. I think every GC device should have an IR receiver that works with one of its ports in receive mode and the learning function should be baked in. The measured codes differ from what is in the "Control Tower" database for the same device, yet they seem to work also, albeit slightly less reliably. I was unsuccessful in converting IR codes recorded on a Flipper Zero to the correct format to replay from the GC-100 so this was the only path forward. I was able to find the codes using the GC-IRL and later found compatible ones from Control Tower that work better than the ones recorded from the actual remote. An expensive lesson but now I have one if the future occasion requires I guess.

Picture does not match product
Interestingly - the product pictured is the GC-IRE extender, not the learner. The GC-IRL learner actually has an embedded IR pickup. The one shown has a port to plug in a wire coming from a pickup or device. The unit pictured does not directly accept Infrared commands from a remote - Need to update the picture. The other photo that has the coin on top is the actual GC-IRL. These images were copied from the manufacturers website and are an ambiguous reference.
