It took me a couple hours to work it to perfection. I recommend putting it in a solid tool holder-that way you can set your z height to land on zero-at a round number so you can do the math in your head. The 4 allen head set screws at the top will center it. I wouldn't accept any more than 2 tenths out and i eventually got it to read better than that: 0 to 1 tenth accuracy! Something I had to learn: I pick up the back and left most often so I set them up first but when I do need to pick up the right or front, I go past 0 then come back to 0 for a perfect pick up-this may be due to table backlash (older machine). The ball at the tip is 3mm and the dial has to go around 3 times so each trip around is .5 mm and each little line on the dial face is about equal to 5 tenths so it is easy to see when you are spot on. My pick-ups take less than 10 seconds each and my accuracy has increased.IS IT TOUGH AND STRONG? As soon as I got it, I dropped it! I snugged it in the tool holder-telling myself that I needed to rotate it to face me once in the spindle. My pull stud had a coolant hole through and the spindle blows air pressure as part of the tool change so as soon as I put it in, the pressure built up and blew it out right at my vice! No damage at all! I put it back in using a pull stud with no hole and it performs perfectly.TIP: When adjusting the set screws... bump it or tap on it, or in my case, I allowed the tool changer arm to put it in the tool corral and then put it back in the spindle. After each adjustment, it needs to settle in to place. A few times during adjustment, I would get the needle on zero but after changing tools it would go a little past zero. I set the heavy tool flag so my machine wouldn't be so rough on the tool changes.

Great tool at a fair price, and shipped well packed, but a bit disappointed to find out that replacement tipsare a bit hard to find - only a few vendors that aren't made in china. Don't go cheap on this tool, you will regret it.

Its a great tool but is there any place where i can get some extra sensing tips ? Can’t find them anywhere for this model …
