Washers on the inside of the shell are rusted. Packaging was brand new, sealed plastic. So how does rust happen? Sound is ok. My kid takes band at school and can’t tune it to sound less echoey like his classroom drum. But the included mute pad makes it sound just right lol, but at -95db. A set of dampening rings might do the trick. Like other neutral negative reviewers say: spend a little more on a better brand. Get a recommendation from your kids band teacher. Those are good tips. I feel I got a good deal on this purchase with everything that was included. The rust, despite being in sealed package really irritates me, but it’s a starter drum that I expect my kid will replace should their skill go up another level.

Xylophone screws into the stand but the screw mechanism is fragile and has broken. The Xylophone can no longer screw into the stand and will not be able to function with any stand. I have contacted the company and still haven’t heard back.

This is a kids toy, not a musical instrument.
