Highly Recommend for Real Time Tracking—Does Great In The Woods!
I’ve had my Tractive GPS for about a year. I recently adopted a 2 year old border collie. I have access to private property for off leash runs in fields and woods and I wanted to make sure I could keep track of my dog. I chose Tractive because of the positive reviews I’d read, the size— not to big not to small-securely fits on a regular collar and some choice of colors. I haven’t been disappointed! Tractive works great in the woods, real time tracking and easy to use. It’s durable, easy to clean, about 3-4 weeks between charges and I use it daily for a few hours. It’s fully met my needs plus has many features I haven’t used yet . I’ve enjoyed not just being able to keep track of my dog on hikes but also seeing how much in mileage he runs on each hike and seeing his patterns of where he likes to go in the woods when I can’t see him. Highly recommend. This is Ludwig. ❤️

Real time GPS tracking. Good app with a modest subscription price.
I have gone through five tracker collars to finally find a good one. I was trying to get by with no subscriptions, and they were ALL bad, mostly due to the very lame apps that were needed. There are no real controls on the device, so the app is king, and this one does not disappoint. You do not have to be in bluetooth or Wi-Fi range like some of the others I tried. I traveled over the holidays to a large, unfenced area and was pleased to find that it works just as well 1,000 miles from home (and my WiFi). What a relief to be able to find my dog at the touch of a button! You can track live within about 20 feet and also view her location history. It shows where she went and how long she stayed in a certain place. It keeps a record of how much she barked and her heart rate. A very useful feature is the sound maker. With a little training, now all I have to do is turn on the sound for a few seconds, and here she comes running back to me. There is also a "radar" which only works within bluetooth range. For me, if I am within bluetooth range of my dog, I do not consider her lost, but you can find which room she is in with it. The tracker was not expensive, and it keeps a charge for about two days. I recommend this if you can handle the subscription cost, which you pay a year at a time.

Disappointed – GPS was inaccurate when I needed it most
I purchased this tracker for my 8-month-old AKC chocolate lab puppy (aka stubborn destroyer) because he has access to a large farm and woods. Reliability was the single most important reason I chose this product. Unfortunately, my experience has been disappointing, and frustrating. The first issue is the collar attachment. The plastic clips that secure the tracker to the collar are not very durable. After the tracker came off, my puppy quickly destroyed the clips. I ended up using zip ties just to keep the tracker attached, which shouldn’t be necessary on a product designed for active dogs. What they also don’t tell you is that if you need a replacement band to attach the clips, it’s not included in the extended support package and isn’t cheap. You’re honestly better off buying an off-brand option on Amazon or 3D printing your own. If you clips on the tracker survive. The second, and much more serious issue, was the GPS accuracy. When the tracker came off, it consistently reported a location that was approximately 300 meters (984 feet) away from where it was actually located. This wasn’t the location “jumping around”—it repeatedly indicated the wrong location. Because of that, I couldn’t get close enough for the Bluetooth features to help locate it. My wife got a kick out of we couldn’t find the actual tracker, how sad is that? Good thing our dog stayed next to us. Customer service agreed to replace the tracker since I purchased their warranty package, but required me to pay the shipping cost, even though my concerns involved both the product’s design and its performance. While the shipping cost was less than $7, covering that expense would have been a simple gesture of goodwill and shown they stand behind their product. Instead, I was left with the impression that customer satisfaction was not a priority. Since I was outside the return window, I accepted the replacement because I had no other option. However, based on my experience, I can no longer recommend this product to friends or colleagues. I sincerely hope the replacement performs better, but my confidence in this tracker has been significantly diminished. If you’re relying on a tracker to quickly locate a pet in a large area, I would carefully consider whether this product meets your needs. There are better ones out there.

Peace of Mind for dog owners
I absolutely love this item for my dog. I have a Siberian Husky who was a bit of a back yard escape artist. Tractive has given us peace of mind. I love the alerts I get immediately on my phone if she’s outside of the home area. I like the fitness tracker info as well. When we’re out of town and she’s with family, I love seeing her on the map at her sitter’s home. This is a great purchase for all dog owners.

Accurate location & great activity data, but occasional random signal drops
The location tracking on this GPS tracker is very accurate and provides excellent data on my dog's activity — including movement patterns, rest periods, and daily activity levels. It's been a great tool for keeping tabs on my dog and understanding his behavior throughout the day. The app is intuitive and the live tracking feature works really well most of the time. However, there are occasional moments where the tracker shows no signal for no apparent reason, which can be a bit frustrating when you want real-time updates. It doesn't happen constantly, but it's noticeable enough to mention. Overall, it's a solid product that delivers on its core promise — I just hope future firmware updates can address the random signal drops.

I Am Impressed!
I desperately needed a tracker that worked in the Georgia woods. I fully expected to have to send this back but, after two days of testing, the performance has impressed me far better than I had expected. A month ago, my Husky broke her lead in the front yard and disappeared into the woods, trailing 30 feet of line. As expected, she got tied up trailing her line but, after three days of searching, I could not find her. This tracker would have taken me right to her. I have tested the tracker and it tracks us on the map really well in the trees with occasional peeks at the sky. No loss of GPS signal indicated thus far. We have pretty marginal cell coverage up here but I have never seen it lose cell lock. Another brilliant thing is, when you get to within 75 feet or so, you can turn on "Radar Mode" and it will use the bluetooth signal for range and bearing to the collar. The collar is very small and fits inside a loop on my Husky's collar. She wears a harness for walks. The subscription will be well worth it next time she makes a getaway. We can just let her run around our property and keep track of her via the phone app. Battery use has been very good thus far, going from 95% the first day to 87% the second day. I can see a need to charge this collar every ten days or so. Another great feature is, whenever the collar is in the Safe Zone (a radius around your house you determine) the collar goes into battery saving mode and shuts down all the cell and GPS tracking. One last feature is a Walk Map feature that shows your distance covered. I always wondered what our total walking distance has been and she is getting 2 miles next to my bike and another 2 miles walking trails each day on our property. I am getting that exercise too!

Great product that gives peace of mind...
This is a very good tracker for my small mix dog that weighs 31 lbs. The device fits well on his collar and he doesn't seem to mind wearing it. I am a senior and not real knowledgeable about computers and tech products, but I was able to figure out how to install the app and set everything up using their online directions and the booklet that came with it. I took him for a walk today and it tracked our journey just fine. I opened the Ap on my I Phone and turned on live, and it showed me a map of where my house is, and a red line being drawn that shows where you are walking at that moment. I live in a small town in the California mountains, where sometimes we see and/or hear coyotes, foxes, and an occasional mountain lion and bobcat. At night, sometimes you can hear them. So the threat is real if he were to get out of the yard or lost, and travel up the mountain by himself. This device helps give me peace of mind that if he got out, that it would make it easier to find him in a more timely manner. Happy with my purchase, and just ordered another set for my little Maltese Poodle that weighs 17 lbs. after trying it out.

This unit is marginally effective. But probably won’t work when you really need it!
When it works it’s great, but the app is sketchy! In walk mode it tracks me (my phone); not my dog. In Live track it doesn’t record half the time. If we go on a walk off leash the app rarely records the dogs movements. And the accuracy of the track when it does record is marginal having little to do with the actual track and location of my dog. I don’t know if the problems are with the app or the device but to be a useful tool both need to work well together. Half the time it tells me the gps signal is weak even if the collar is over 90% charged. The Garmin gps on my watch and the AllTrails app are far superior and accurate and consistently works no matter how remote the trail I may be on. I have been using for a month and still not happy with performance. If you plan to hunt your dog with this or use tracing with your dog this is useless.. accuracy is often poor probably only accesses 1-2 satellites.. when I turn on Live track it takes a long time to access (like 10-15 min) or does not access or tells me gps signal is weak when collar is over 900% charged. Often shows dog more than 100m from me when he is sitting in front of me. I have only used in areas that are by no means remote. On top of all this the description does not make it clear that this requires an annual subscription to work poorly. Nice if you want your dogs activity level to compete on social media. But you likely won’t find your lost dog in the woods. He’s not lost; you are. DON’T buy. So, 7 months. I canceled my subscription which can’t be done until it expires5 months from now. Today the tracker almost ended up in bottom of pond in southern NH. Dog appeared to have disappeared but was hiding in woods nearby because he thought run was over and we were headed home. Finally pulled out phone and opened app which showed him to be about 1/2 mi away down an old abandoned wood road. I used the app to get within about 100 ft of where it said he was. Got a good run on a steep hill. My grandson who knew the dog was “missing” collected him where he was playing next to the pond where we started. The tracker is now in the trash can. Everything is fine, but if the dog was really lost I would have wasted a lot of time and energy hunting in the wrong place. If you really want to be able to track your dog or find a lost dog especially in somewhat remote country, don’t waste your money on this devise!

Excellent!!!!!
When our dog ran off during a walk, it was one of those moments that makes your heart stop. She had an Apple AirTag on her collar, but once she darted into the thick brush, the AirTag was basically useless without a nearby phone to ping off. That experience made it clear we needed something with real GPS tracking. Enter the Tractive Smart GPS Tracker, and honestly, it’s been a game changer. The device gives you live tracking that’s accurate down to a few metres, even in wooded areas. You can follow your dog’s movements in real time through the app, and it updates constantly without the lag we had with other devices. The virtual fence feature is another standout. You can set a safe zone around your home or favourite walking area, and the moment your dog crosses that invisible boundary, you get an alert. It’s quick, reliable, and gives huge peace of mind. Beyond tracking, the health and activity reports are surprisingly useful. It logs your dog’s daily movement, rest, and overall activity level, almost like a fitness tracker for pets. It’s a nice bonus to see patterns that help you understand their habits better. The device itself is lightweight, waterproof, and easy to attach to a collar. Battery life is solid, and the subscription plan for GPS service feels worth every cent for the reliability it brings. After trying both an AirTag and the Tractive, I can say there’s no comparison. The Tractive Smart GPS Tracker is designed for pets, and it shows in every feature. I 100% recommend it for anyone with a dog who loves to explore—or one that’s just a little too fast when they see a squirrel.

Beagle security
I find Tractive the most accurate & secure device for us. The mapping is clear & shows where they’ve been too. We are in a rural zone & it has been the only reliable method we’ve found. It’s good to be able set varying fence zones.
