unMEAT Plant-Based Chicken Style Chunks, 6.3 oz, 12 Pack

My local grocer stopped carrying this canned plant based meat from unMeat and so, here I am, getting it online. I have been vegan for 12 years, love to eat, love to enjoy sandwiches as I did years ago - including making a chicken salad sandwich. I love this stuff!!! I use the Hellman's vegan mayo and some finely chopped scallions and celery and make the most delicious chicken salad with it!! Texture - awesome. Taste - this is as close as it gets folks and it does not disappoint! Highly recommend. So cool that in 2024 we can enjoy delicious food that is cruelty-free and without all the crap they put into these poor animals. Three cheers for unMeat!!

If you are vegan this is a great product. My only wish was that it was packed in oil because it doesn’t have a flavor on its own but the texture is just like meat. So I would equate it with pasta, whatever flavor you like add to it and it will be delicious.

The taste is fine and somewhat similar to chicken but I had to cook it very well just like you would chicken for it to not irritate my stomach. It may be due to the wheat content in the product, which I am a bit sensitive to.

I was excited to try this product because it’s a cheaper alternative to another brand. I made chicken salad and the family gave it 2 thumbs up. It’s a little chewy so I pulsed it in the food processor. We will definitely be using it in our favorite casseroles.

I tried to eat this on two occasions and just could not stomach it! The taste is just off and the texture is like rubber bands. I really wanted to like this, but it was just NOT good. Due to kidney issues we can't do meat anymore. The search for a decent chicken replacement continues, because this isn't it. Don't waste your money.
