The dumbbell heads are made from ASTM A48 Class 20 grey iron coated in 80 shore hardness rubber joined together by a solid 1018 cold rolled steel chromed handle, making them durable and reliable. Review: 4.5 Stars - Almost perfect - The weights themselves are great. Very solid, nice handles, good materials. For the price, this a really great set of weights and it’s great having the 5 lb. increments. The rack was easy to put together, looks great, and doesn’t take up much space at all. The first downside is the smell when they arrive. I knew about this from other reviews so i unboxed them outside, rubbed them down with a dish rag using soapy water, and let them stay outside (under a covered area) for a few days. They still have a smell up close now but they don’t stink up the room like they would have. The bigger downside that I don’t have any solution for is the width of the rack hooks. They are made to hold the weights at a good spot on the handles, but that makes them more narrow than your hand. When I pull them out, I can only grab them with 3 fingers and when I put them back I have to kindof toss them in a bit or risk pinching parts of my hand against the hook. (see pictures) Given all of that, I’m taking off half a star for the rack width because, as long as you clean them well when you get them, they are otherwise a great set and well worth the cost.

The weights are packaged so that 3 of the boxes each holds 50 lbs (2 X 25, 2 X 20 + 2 X 5, and 2 X 15 + 2 X 10). The 4th box contained the rack parts with instructions and tools to put it together. I had it assembled in about 20 minutes, and it's perfectly sturdy to hold all these weights. The weights felt slightly oily out of the box and had a faint odor (chemical? plastic? metal?), but the odor is quickly dissipating. They are perfect hex weights - well balanced and grippy without being too rough on your palms. I did not check the weights themselves to make sure they are exactly correct on poundage - they seem close enough, and that's all I need. I've already used everything but the 5's - and I'll get around to them eventually too.

The weights themselves are great. Very solid, nice handles, good materials. For the price, this a really great set of weights and it’s great having the 5 lb. increments. The rack was easy to put together, looks great, and doesn’t take up much space at all. The first downside is the smell when they arrive. My order came a day in advance! The shipment was wonderful - I received my entire order. There is an odour to the equipment, but nothing unmanageable. The smell should improve once you air the weights out. One thing to note is you will require tools to assemble the dumbbell rack. It’s very compact / doesn’t take up much space. Perfect for a home gym. Happy with this product; would recommend for the price
