Still works great after a year!
I wanted to leave this review, more than a year after purchase, because this product was an important part of my move towards eco-consciousness. I'm a heavy coffee drinker, so I would go through a mountain of filters every month. I'm also very particular about taste, so I ordered this with a lot of skepticism. Fortunately, my fears were absolutely unfounded. I've used this filter every day since that time, and it's yet to fail, yet to pour slower, and if there is a negative taste impact, I don't notice it. It's ultimately saved me quite a bit of money as well (I used square unbleached Chemex brand before and, well, you know.) Now that I've told you the positives, here are the negatives: Sometimes the rubber around the top comes off in washing (I handwash), but it's easy to snap back on. On a practical note, it's harder to know how to handle the grinds if you normally toss filters in the trash. I take a butter knife and scrape them, so it is an extra step. I recommend this product to everyone who uses a pour-over or Chemex. It's a lifechanger.

Great filter
Really happy with this filter. It was a replacement for another double filter I had that clogged and had gotten really slow (probably used too fine a grind and didnโt keep up with weekly vinegar cleaning). This one gives me a pretty fast cup of coffee without compromising on flavor, and I prefer it over single layer filters that allow more sediment through. Just wish it had a little tab or was a little wider to fit my Chemex pour over, but it does fit the neck and the little rubber O-ring lets me grab it through the Chemex spout opening and not burn my fingers.

Excellent replacement for pour-over paper filters
This is an excellent solution to avoid the consistent repurchase of paper filters. However, if youโre used to using the standard Chemex filters, there will be a little bit of an adjustment, but nothing drastic. Hereโs what I suggest: use of a nice burr grinder for consistency of ground size, slightly finer ground size than what youโre used to with the paper, wash/rinse immediately after using (starting by rinsing the water through the filter from the outside first). Our first one lasted for 1.5 years (with daily use) before we got rid of it; this was our fault - my wife wasnโt as quick to rinse it out each time and would leave it sitting in the sink with some grounds in it for a while before rinsing. It started having trouble allowing water to pass through at an acceptable rate (because of the build up), and I elected to throw it away prior to thorough research on how to unclog the filter. It would still be going strong had we been more consistent with the daily rinsing and occasional cleaning.

Great filter but just not for me
I decided to get this instead of ordering more paper filters. Even though this is more cost effective and brews faster, I find out it not as easy to clean out. Grant it you essentially dump the grounds and then rinse out the excess in the sink. I just find it as an extra step and not as easy as just lifting the paper filter out and tossing it in the trash. Plus the extra step in having to soak in vinegar to clean periodically I donโt know if it is worth it for me. Also keeping vinegar on hand is not something I normally stock. The cost of one box is $10.95 for 100 filters at World Market plus the discounts of buy online, pick up in store or the periodic sales of 20-25% off. Overall the cost of paper filters is more but the convenience kind of makes up for it. I will keep this filter but will go back to my paper filters. Overall this metal filter is nice but just not for me.

Lasted 5 years!
We used this for over 5 years before purchasing a new one. Wasn't working great toward the end of course. Love that this has saved us money!

Still loving it after 9 weeks of use.
I was concerned about trying a metal filter after only using paper filters in my Hario v60 for so long. I've ended up loving the full body mouth feel and taste using this filter, I actually have some leftover paper filters I haven't used because I keep wanting to use this metal one instead. I was also not sure how long-term use would go, but so far it has a great flow and I haven't had any issues after using it almost every day for 9 weeks. I have soaked it in a water/vinegar solution once, as the instructions it came with advised, but otherwise I simply rinse it out with hot water and every once in awhile use a little liquid dish soap to gently clean away residue. If you're considering a metal filter, I highly recommend trying this one.

Good build quality, weak cup of coffee
In my opinion, this is a very average filter. I bought it for the purpose of not needing to buy paper filters all the time, however I'm not sure if that was the best decision. While the construction of this filter looks very good, there are a couple of significant issues. The lesser of these issues is cleaning. It's sometimes difficult to get coffee grounds out of the filter itself, and I find myself spending quite a bit of time trying to rinse it. The biggest issue is that the coffee I brew this through this filter is very weak. While I add as many grounds as I'd normally use with a paper filter to brew a full, bold roast - any time I use this filter, it just comes out very quickly. It leads me to wonder how well it's actually doing the job, as the coffee comes out looking somewhat transparent and has little taste.

Works great, better than paper filters
We've been using these filters for several years now, and will continue to use them. They filter well, clean-up easily, and make great tasting coffee. Usually after about 1.5 to 2 years of use, they filter noticeably slower and need to be replaced. Compare that with the cost of daily paper filters for a Chemex (what we use) and it's just a better deal.

Adds New Life To Coffee
I was surprised at how well this worked. It drips through the metal filter faster than it does with a paper filter, but the extraction of coffee is much more full bodied. I had to play a bit with the grind size and quantity, but found the right mix after a couple of pots. This is using my own home roasted beans. Very little sentiment, in fact so little, I just drink the whole cup down. I am quite impressed with this filter and consider it a very good buy. The filter has been extremely easy to clean, I just use the kitchen sprayer and spray the outside with hot water for a minute or so, then rinse the inside with the same sprayer. I hold it up to the light to check the holes to make sure none are plugged and it is good to go, very nice and easy. Shipping was very fast, two days up from the US to Canada, excellent service. Good price as well, if I have any complaint it is that it does not rest on the top rim of my 10 cup Chemex but sits just inside the rim. And as a last comment I don't usually bother with reviews unless the product is exceptionally good, I feel this is.

Unfortunate Taste
I bought this to reduce the paper waste from my coffee-making process however there are issues with filtering large quantities of coffee (50grams+), I didn't have this issue for 30grams but is prevalent at higher quantities. The other issue with filtering large quantities which then block the filter is that the filter heats up, the coffee steeps too much and you then get a really bad metal taste and smell in your coffee. This does dissipate when the coffee is poured into a cup and left for a few minutes. Overall the design and build quality is great and it is easy to clean, but using the filter does affect the taste and smell of the coffee. Most metal coffee drippers are copper and still require the use of a filter, I think this is because ultimately a bare metal filter affects the coffee negatively.

Best coffee filter we have ever used, PERIOD
These are so so good I bought another one in case they never see light of day again.... There is something about the fine screen and the construction that makes coffee incredibly. We use dark French roast beans, grind them ourselves every morning. We like strong coffee. The color of the coffer is a clear golden hue and the flavor is beyond description. These are pricy but we think worth the price. Besides, no more paper filters. Incredibly good filters.
