LEGENDARY MPC FEEL AND WORKFLOW WITH A GREATLY EXPANDED FEATURE SET. The MPC series set the standard for beat production. What would it take to make the ultimate MPC? Dozens of engineers, 20 years of experience and a new synth and drum sampling engine unlike any MPC ever. Introducing the MPC5000; the new standard for music production. The MPC 5000 is the first MPC ever to include 8-track streaming hard disk recording, a 20-voice, 3-oscillator analog synthesizer with arpeggiator, a new sequencing engine with 960 ppq resolution, pad and track muting and mixing, 64 continuous sample tracks. There's even a new FX engine with 4 FX buses and 2FX per bus. In addition, the MPC5000 features a 64-voice drum/phrase sampler with 64MB memory - expandable up to 192MB. The display is twice the size of the MPC2500 and MPC1000 so waveforms appear crystal-clear. Integrated Chop Shop 2.0 now supports stereo chops and Patched Phrases. The MPC5000 is also the first MPC to include Random and Cycle sample playback in addition to velocity Zone Play. A turntable preamp is also included. The MPC5000's virtual analog synth eliminates need for external analog synth modules or buggy software based synthesizers. The new 8-track direct to disk recorder lets you produce your whole song in the MPC and then mix it down with the internal sequenced programs and any input thru material. Add the optional CD/DVD drive and you can then burn an audio or data CD or your mix. Over 650MB of premium-quality sounds from Loopmasters are included to get you up and running with pro-quality production in seconds. Review: Love the machine! - I Love this machine! although the review said it was "like new" before i received it, there were couple stains, bubbling on the plastic nothing big just cosmetics and even though i already ordered and changed out all those pieces would of been nice just to know before hand other then that its amazing! Review: it stopped working for no reason - does not turn on at all. had it for about a week didn't really get the chance to use it yet tried turning it on and there was no response.

M.P.C. More Power Coming!
You say you want beats? You say you want crazy synths? Then the MPC 5000 is definitely the studio in a box you have been looking for. I love this monster of a machine. It's built very sturdy and of great quality. You look at it and it just calls out for your creative juices! It also has a fun learning curve in my opinion. It thrives in compatibility with your PC or Mac. And integrates seemlessly with most DAW and software programs. It could have been equipped with a little more memory but the upgrade is also very reasonable on Amazon. So I still give it 5 stars. If you love producing and creating your own music, then the MPC 5000 will give you that power. It's completely hands on for those who like to immerse themselves into their instrument. It actually makes you the instrument in a way? Because the MPC is only as great as the person using it! If you are great, then it is great! And vise versa! Either way, you will love finding yourself with this baby! It is so cool when you become one with it. Akai is a big part of my musical arsenal and a trusted name with me. I would recommend this puppy for anyone who considers themselves a true producer of music. It is a beat making mad scientist at work, trust me!!!

Terrible Music Making Machine
A combination of unstable and unfinished OS with cheap parts. I had 2 of these MPC5000 burn their lcds on me, the first time Akai fixed it but the second time I had to pay to get it fixed and it was $400. Nukai no longer supports the OS and the have not upgraded it in a long time. If I were you I'd get an MPC 2500 with JJOS.

Pricey piece of Greatness
Imagine having a synthesizer added to your MPC (assuming you have used a MPC before). Same capabilities as the previous models, but my favorite addition is the arpeggio function. When a MIDI keyboard is hooked up you can play out chords and press the arpeggiator button instead of just holding down the note-repeat button. I actually ordered and installed different color pads to give my MPC that customized-look. The internal hard drive is loaded with more than enough soundsets. The ability to chop and edit samples has been simplified with a few auto options. It also has a built in multitrack recorder (which I have yet to mess with), but seems easily accessible at the click of a button. I save my sounds on the internal hard drive and back them up on computer via USB port built on the back of the unit. The option to save and/or load is available for both Compact Flash cards and internal hard drive. Optional DVD Drive can be installed, too...this made my beat CD creation a cinch. The internal ROM is loaded with basic drum sets and synth presets. Make sure you update the Operating System for I heard the original OS was "buggy" (unstable). Like I mentioned in my title...the MPC5000 is quite pricey, but the power of this machine is unrivaled.
