Worked a little too well
The Nano hearing aids first ear plus worked really well. They are very small and discreet, which was nice when out and about. There is a good seal with included tips. You will need the seal for sure, otherwise you are going to get a high pitched squeal right in your ear and it's awful! I did notice an improvement in overall hearing however I didn't like how it made EVERYTHING so loud. I think for someone struggling with a lack of regular hearing (like common sounds or not so hushed sounds), this works great. At almost $300, I do feel like these are a little on the expensive side.

Small, Discreet… and Eye-Opening
I’m not ancient, but years of loud music, shop tools without proper protection, and more rock concerts than I can count have definitely taken their toll. My hearing isn’t uniformly “bad” — it’s uneven. Some frequencies are crystal clear, and others feel like they’ve vanished entirely. I’ve also always been a little vain about the idea of hearing aids. So when these showed up, it felt like a low-risk way to test both my hearing reality and my ego. Fit & Comfort First impressions: they are small. Properly small. They sit recessed into the ear canal and, from straight on, are barely noticeable. With a little experimentation using the included domes and ear tips, I was able to get a solid seal. That seal matters — especially to prevent feedback. If there’s an air gap between the ear tip and your canal, the amplified sound can loop back into the microphone and create a painful squeal. Getting the fit right before powering them on avoided that issue completely for me. Comfort-wise, I was able to wear them around the house and in public for about a week without irritation. What They Taught Me Here’s the interesting part: they absolutely help. I can hear sounds I honestly thought were gone. Subtle background noises, distant conversations, environmental detail — it all came back. But there’s a tradeoff. Because these amplify broadly rather than shaping frequencies specifically for my hearing loss, the frequencies I already hear well become very loud. Examples: • Water hitting the sink sounds amplified from across the house. • Sand on the floor sounds like nails on a chalkboard. • If I turn the volume up enough to clearly hear voices across the room, everything else gets cranked too. That told me something important: I don’t just need amplification — I need frequency-specific shaping. Something closer to a parametric EQ tuned to my hearing profile. And these don’t offer that level of customization. Public Perception (Reality Check) One unexpected benefit: I learned that nobody cares. Out of 100 people in public, about zero are concerned that you’re wearing hearing aids. That realization alone was worth the experiment. What’s Missing At this price point (around $300), I don’t expect high-end audiology features. But Bluetooth would be a game-changer. If I could discreetly stream music or podcasts while also correcting my hearing, I would wear them much more often. ⸻ Bottom Line: ✅ Very small and discreet ✅ Good seal with included tips ✅ Noticeable improvement in overall hearing ✅ Helped me understand what kind of hearing aid I truly need ✘ No frequency-specific shaping (broad amplification) ✘ Loud frequencies can become overwhelming ✘ No Bluetooth connectivity These are a solid entry point if you want to explore whether hearing aids help you at all. For me, they confirmed that I benefit from assistance — but also that I’ll eventually need something more customizable.

Great for my grandmother and she can hear again!
My grandmother has gotten to that age where hearing has just been getting worse by the day so I wanted to get her a hearing aid which would not just enhance the hearing for her but also be comfortable on a day to day basis. She has been using this for months and finally I am able to confidently say that it not just works but it has become an essential tool for her. Hearing plays such a crucial ability for her since it is something she has done her entire life so to be able to bring it back to her with her old age is something that was very important due to her family speaking to her, the dangers around her, etc. The hearing aid is primarily plastic but it feels very sturdy and easy to use. The tips are interchangeable but something that she never does and charging is super quick. She is not tech savvy at all but this is something she was able to figure out on her own.

Comfortable and effective
I'm a bit of a unique case - my hearing is very sensitive, so many noises really bother me. I got these hoping that they would block out noise and allow me to adjust what gets through to a comfortable level. For this application, these hearing aids work very well! They were easy to set up and use, following the included instructions, and they are very well designed and seem to be great quality. While the audio isn't quite as clear as natural hearing, it's very close and just takes a little getting used to. For those like me who have small ear canals, it may take a bit longer to get used to the fit. While I was able to get them most of the way into my ear canals from the start, they did stick out a bit, and became uncomfortable after about half an hour. I did get used to them after a while, and since my hearing and my ears adjusted, I'm able to wear them for much longer periods without issue. In that vain, there are many different ear tips included, as well as installation tools, to fit different preferences. Of these, I am using the smallest one which isn't much wider than the probe itself. Even after the break-in period, while they do sit comfortably now, unfortunately they still don't fit completely inside my ear canal, making them visible from the outside. It's not glaringly obvious, but is noticeable. If you have small ear canals and are self-conscious about this, then you may want to look for smaller devices. The battery lasts a very long time of continuous use, which is compounded by the charging case. I haven't timed it, but the estimate of 18+ hours per charge seems accurate. As long as you charge the case every night, you should have no issues. The controls are my main reason for rating 4 stars instead of 5. The volume is controlled individually on each ear using a button on the device to cycle through volume levels. It's a bit of a drag that the ears aren't synced, but it makes sense if you have different levels of hearing loss in each ear. What's more of a pain is having to turn the volume up before getting to a lower volume. If you want to lower the volume because you're in a loud environment, having to turn them up to loop around can be painful, and taking them out of your ears to avoid it is a hassle.

With nice functional hearing aids
Well, these are over-the-counter purchased hearing aids. I am very impressed with them. My husband who refuses to wear them and I have previously purchased two other pairs for him both of them costing more than $2000 per pair and he informed me that he will wear them and that they will work and that everything will be fine right up until about a month after they can’t be returned anymore and then it’s all of a sudden oh they don’t work oh they’re uncomfortable oh I don’t like them. Oh they make things too loud. So I now have two sets of hearing aids that were made for him that have cost me over $4000. When I saw these, I acquired them with the intention that if he doesn’t wear them, I know my hearing aid hearing is decreasing as my age increases and I figured I would just use them for me. Well, once again he told me oh I’m going to wear them and he wore them all of three hours on one day. That has been three weeks ago so now then the hearing aids are no longer in his possession, and I am training my ears to get used to them so that I can hear things more clearly especially conversations with those that I love. The quality of the sound is very good. It’s easy to adjust the battery. Life lasts all day even with wearing them all day long and they’re super easy to clean. I have found that these are a very acceptable option to the high priced that is more than $2000 hearing aids and I will definitely stick with this kind if he ever decides that he will actually wear a pair.

untresponsive
Nano hearing aids are a rip off. The company never responds to you when there is a problem. There is no service or number you can call. I have emailed three times and havre only been told that I am on the list for a response. This is over 4 months.

Amplify well. Hard to cut out ambient noise
This review is for: Nano Hearing Aids First Ear Plus CIC - Completely in Canal - For Adults & Seniors with Mild to Moderate Hearing Loss - Includes Rechargeable Battery, Portable Charging Case & Cable They do amplify sound well. That part works. The problem is tuning things the way you want. I was hoping to bring up nearby voices and cut down background/ambient noise, like crowds, but it’s hard to get that balance with these. They’re small and easy to use with the charging case, but the control just isn’t there compared to professional options. Not bad, just limited. Not sure they’re worth the price tag.
