Herschel 400 Observing Guide

The Herschel 400 Observing Guide is an excellent resource. Most helpful is that this guide provides a photograph of each object the amateur is trying to find. As someone who uses strictly star hopping methods when searching for an object, having the ability to visually confirm a sighting is a tremendous benefit in the field. The descriptions and the directions for finding these objects are also very good. Bottom line: this is a thorough and practical guide to the Herschel 400 objects.

Though I haven't had a chance to use this under the stars yet I have been reading this extensively in preparation for the beginning of my Herschel year. It's highly organized and eliminates the guesswork in what I'm going to be viewing in an evening.

I completed viewing the Messier catalog and was looking for my next viewing project and decided on this. Well organized and very useful. The charts in the book are not enough on their own for me, so I find a star atlas is a necessary companion, Sky Atlas 2000.0 is my first choice.

This book gives detail descriptions of the most interesting 400 deep sky objects out of the Messier catalog. Very valuable resource.

Todo un reto observar con detalle estos 400 objetos a lo largo de 2-3 varios años, para los que no nos gusta el go-to indica con exactitud la ubicación de cada uno usando estrellas de referencia (star-hooping) Hay también un comentario visual con diferentes aumentos del objeto así como una fotografía en blanco y negro. Lastima la tapa tan blanda.

Je vais m’en servir pour découvrir les 400 objets et apprendre ce qu’il a découvert . Celui qui a reproduits ce livre il a trouvé les 400 objets à l’aide d’un télescope de 4 pouces . Je vais essayé de trouver ça avec mon 16 pouces hahaha . Livre en parfaite etat . Très bonne description comment ça fonctionne avec les 400 images à trouver et comment les trouver avec les étoiles des constellations pour le guidage .

Este libro es una guía perfecta para la observación de objectos de cielo profundo. Una selección de objetos realmente fascinantes, perfectamente organizada en función de lo que es visible cada mes del año y con una descripción precisa de lo que estamos viendo. Imprescindible.

My books arrived today in a cheap flimsy mail pouch and it was damaged and torn on the corner and had ding marks on the edges ,, amazon should package thier books properly instead of being cheapo ,, the book is an awesome read for astronomers and for doing projects ,, Stephen produces some great astronomy books.
