PACRP4-VW11 Radiopro4 Stereo Replacement Interface with Steering Wheel Controls for Select VW Vehicles with Canbus

This is the exact product I needed.The project I was working on was replacing the stock stereo in my 2004 Volkswagen Jetta GLS with the JVC KDR840BT unit. I would likely have been able to replace the stereo using a simple wiring harness converter or even cutting off the stock wiring harness and wiring the radio directly to the audio cables for the speakers and amplifier. My concern was that I would not be able to properly use the steering wheel controls to change the volume and tracks on the new radio.The installation of this product is very simple for those who have any experience with simple wiring. You can solder the wires on, but I simply twisted them to the ones that came from my wiring harness with the ones on this interface and covered them with electrical tape.The sound I get from all of this is great (much better than the cassette adapter for my iPod) and the steering wheel controls work perfectly. There is a slight delay when changing tracks on my iPod that comes from the steering wheel control as compared to changing the track directly from the radio.One thing to be careful of is the space that this unit will take up, be sure you can fit this behind your radio or somewhere else, it was an extremely snug fit in my car.

Updated review: 8/21The steering wheel controls do work. The installer made a mistake by not choosing the right option for Pioneer car stereo on the rotary wheel. Its all good now.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Steering wheel controls do not work in my case. I took the help of a professional audio installer who recommended me this product. I have a GLI MK6 steering wheel along with a Pioneer AVH-3500BHS aftermarket stero. Can someone please advise if I am missing something? I will update the rating if the audio controls work.

Installed this PAC RP4-VW11 with a Boss BE7ACP unit. Couldn't get power from the (blue) interface box to the radio (red) startup wire. Talked to a tech and he said that I had a bad unit. Purchased and installed a 2nd unit that gave me same results. From a post online on a Jeep forum about the same issue and he ran a power wire directly from an accessory source to the red startup wire bypassing interface. Talked to another tech about the post and he told me to run the separate power wire or replace the inline relay. For the cost, you shouldn't have to bypass or replace anything. Poor customer service. The product doesn't work as intended.

Works great. Comes with the wiring harness and is plug-and-play. Worked perfectly on my Pioneer, and the power control to my radio is perfect using the red wire (which is located in the bundle of wires labeled for navigation purposes). This red wire is ignition 12V and can be used to power the radio when the car turns on.

worked perfectly with my pioneer deck, really wish that i had programmed the advanced controls before i installed, you can do a long press on the steering wheel volume buttons to change tracks, or a normal press to adjust the volume, but oh well, worked perfectly on the first try.The Deck functions like the factory model did.The Metra adapters wouldnt work on my Touareg, but this one did.

I have worked with other modules in the pass but this one is by far superior. Its all in one of everything needed to keep oem connections without added equipment when installing a non oem equipment.. Setup is flawless with option for multi function that the oem didn't offer....

PAC products are the best for interfacing your aftermarket stereo to your car's computer system. This VW interface works flawlessly right out of the box - no programming!

Note to Sony XAV-AX100 Users:You have to set the preset dial to 7 instead of 8 in order to get this working with the Sony XAV-AX100 head unit. Once you set it to 7, you will need to use the custom steering wheels control option inside of the Sony headunit itself.I had to call PAC support to find this out and they told me that the XAV-AX100 and XAV-AX200 are slightly different and need to be set this way.-----This pac device is quite easy to wire up and use. It comes with clear instructions that are easy to understand and pretty thorough. I am docking a star because the first PAC unit I received was defective and would not power on my head unit. After replacing the controller unit, the head unit started right up without issue.I ran into configuration trouble because my head unit is apparently particularly strange in how it accepts SWC configuration, but I managed to work it out over the phone with their tech support, which was pretty fantasticThis comes with the main harness, steering wheel control harness, and blue control unit.Would recommend this to anybody looking to easily maintain steering wheel controls with an aftermarket head unit!

its a good a product if you are looking for plug forget. If you are looking at its programming function, stay away from it. Incase you miss programming one button or so, getting to reset to factory default setting from PAC is a nightmare, it just wouldnt do so. Spoke to PAC service support, they are clueless as well.

Installed in my 2011 VW GTI with my Sony MEXN5100BT receiver and works great.
