Bass. Yes, ACTUAL bass.
I've been down the 'Open Ear Design' rabbit hole for a while now, and there's two things you notice right away - since your ear canals are (hopefully) wide open... The sound is like a Bluetooth speaker invisibly floating in space that only you can hear. Pretty cool. Oftentimes, though, that magic Bluetooth speaker seems kinda gutless. Not so cool. Because of this limitation, I have tried to spend my way into something with genuine punch... And this one smokes them ALL. Regardless of price. I finally have the kind of bass response I can live with in a form factor I can reasonably forget about all day. They're on right now because taking them off makes no sense. The damn battery lasts 11 HOURS. PER BUD. No obstruction at all - I can use a Qtip with them on. It's fantastic. And the lows are REAL - usually open ear designs deliver low frequency sound the way sparkling water delivers the taste of fruit - barely enough to notice. Not these. Real fruit juice this time. Could they use a few extra features? Kinda yeah, especially for this price point. I also have a pair of Cleer's Arc 3 Sport open buds (every feature you can imagine but roughly 100 bucks more) - and I would really like to see the Shokz support LDAC, Hi-Res Audio, Dolby Atmos, and at minimum a more detailed EQ setup (5-band feels outdated, like a Sony Walkman from the 90's) - but the Shoks still sent those Arc 3's to the junk drawer by getting the basics absolutely PERFECT - fit, controls, sound quality are all in a class by themselves. If they ever roll out a Snapdragon Sound version of these with all the audio features and a case with a display, It's game over for the competition in the entire category. Multipoint works fine. It's a feature you didn't know you needed until you have it. I come home with these on (paired to phone), leave them on, then turn on the living room TV (also paired) and watch something too grownup for my little kids because I'm the only one hearing it. Dad Mode. Fit is impressive - they are comfortable, low profile, extraordinary secure (I can't imagine an activity outside of Jiu-jitsu or boxing that would dislodge them) and play nicely with both glasses and hats. Sound quality is excellent, and boy am I a snob about that. Actually, I would dive right into the custom EQ and draw a bass-biased Harman curve and tinker with it a little - then it really gets a chance to deliver. This little device uses a dual driver (essentially a speaker and subwoofer in miniature) setup so there's a lot more headroom before distortion creeps in - the arch enemy of open ear designs. In summary, yes these are $180 earbuds... and they are worth every dime, in fact punching above their weight at that cost. I recommend you believe the hype and spend the money. You won't regret it.

Worth Every Cent - The Best Earphones for Comfort, Clarity, and Real-Life Living
I am completely sold on these Shokz OpenFit 2 earphones. After many months of mostly continuous use for both work and play, my appreciation for them has only increased. At this point, my Shokz are as essential to my daily life as my phone — I don’t go anywhere without them. I bought my first set in August ’25 and immediately bought a second because I knew my husband would steal mine. I was not wrong. His are now just as permanently attached to him as mine are to me. These are incredible tools for so many reasons. The biggest attraction for me is comfort. I have serious insomnia and often fall asleep listening to calming music or recordings, so I needed earbuds that wouldn’t hurt my ears. Traditional earbuds are impossible for me — anything in my ear canal causes my sinuses to clog painfully, and that can spiral into a migraine. When I saw the open-ear induction design on these, I knew I’d finally found my solution. They sit outside the ear, feather-light, with no pressure and no discomfort. The design meets every one of my needs. I also need listening power that won’t interrupt my husband’s work or sleep. We are often on opposite schedules, so having sound that doesn’t leak out into the room is essential. Quick charging and long battery life are also must-haves for me. I need something I can rely on to be ready whenever I need it. Where Shokz truly shines is in allowing me to hear my surroundings while still hearing my audio clearly. As a mom to a disabled child, I cannot miss it if she calls for me or if a machine alarm sounds. I also need to be reachable at all times. These earphones let me stay connected to my world instead of shut off from it. My husband uses his set for hours of Zoom meetings during the day, and all of his entertainment in the evening is online. He needs comfort, clarity, and enough noise control to focus — but he also needs to hear our family when we talk to him. For two people on different schedules sharing the same home and workspace, Shokz checks every box. I can watch TV, listen to my audiobook, practice guided meditation, or enjoy African drumming without disturbing him — and he can lead a seminar or watch action flicks with enormous explosions without waking me. It’s peaceful coexistence, courtesy of Shokz. Plus, they’re waterproof! These are some of the most comfortable earphones I’ve ever worn, and the sound quality is fantastic. The audio is full, rich, and clean. Their app offers an easy-to-use equalizer, but honestly, the default settings sound great for most things. Setup took less than a minute on both my phone and my TV. And yes — the bass is real. If you want to hear the full range of your music, not the flat, bass-less sound so many wireless earbuds produce — and if you want comfort, clarity, awareness, and reliability — I strongly recommend these. Recommend: 5/5.

Best noise canceling for phone calls and you can hear the world around you!
These are very good headset/headphones. I am deaf in one ear so I value being able to hear the world around me even with an earpiece in my ear so I love that these sit outside of my ear(s). Plus, studies show that earplugs cause bacteria buildup in your ear so having only one ear left, I don't want high bacteria levels in my ear caused by an earplug design headset. But primarily, the in-the-ear plug designs are horrible for me because I can't hear the world around me. So, over the years, I've used single (I only need one) Bluetooth headsets that have a design that sits in the ear, but doesn't plug in. However, this style is getting harder to find. The only ones left with that design are cheap BT headsets that don't have decent noise canceling (for the person I'm calling), sound tinny, and are cheaply made. I read about Shokz Openrun2 and decided to try these. All I can say is that they have exceeded my expectations. They sit outside the ear so you can hear everything around you as if you are not even using a headset. When I'm not using them, I forget I have them on. In a quiet space, they are as good as any headset with great sound for music. In a noisy space (restaurant, kids talking, etc.), you can hear the noise around you in addition to music or talk, so not the best if you want to ignore noise and immerse yourself in music. But surprisingly, they are loud enough that even when mowing my lawn, when turned up all the way on a Samsung S23, I can hear a podcast (speech) clearly! Music has great bass and the phone app has a built in equalizer so you can adjust your sound. These headphones sound great. It also has a "find my headset" feature that plays a loud tone that allows you to hear the earpiece if you get close. Controls on either side allow for advancing music, going backwards, volume up and down, and mute. Battery life is excellent. I can listen for hours, and I'm still at 30% at the end of the day. I've yet to run out in a day but they are still fairly new and I'm sure the battery will degrade with time. But the case allows for fast charging (30-45 min gets me back to full) and I believe you can charge 3 times fully before the case needs charging (USB-C). If I only use the headphones for calling, even lots of calls, I'm almost always at 70% by the end of the day. They sit on my ear great, and I forget I have them on. They are light, and the outside-the-ear design means I can hear the world around me as loudly as if I don't have them on. I've run with them and they stay on without wiggling and I once wrestled with my 12 year old and I forgot I had them on and they never fell off (he obviously never grabbed my head in any way or they may have knocked off). I believe they are waterproof as well so rain and sweat shouldn't affect them. When using for phone calls, listeners on the other end tell me that the noise canceling is excellent. The other day, I was walking outside and it was windy enough that I could hear the wind loudly on my end but the listener said they couldn't hear any wind noise. Zero. And they complimented how excellent I sounded. I've been polling lots of people when on the phone ever since I got them and everyone says the sound is great and they can't hear the background noise unless it's really loud (loud voices, banging, etc.) but they say even when doing dishes, they can sort of hear it but my voice is much louder and therefore, background noise, even if audible, is not annoying or overpowering. The noise canceling works! So, for voice calls, this headset is literally the best I've ever used and I've used many varieties of Plantronic and Jabras. I know Airpod Pro 2s have excellent noise canceling from talking to people on the phone who are using them but I could never use them due to the earplug design. I highly recommend these. Five stars.

Very good quality and sound just a little loose
These earbuds sounded extremely good for not being in ear earbuds, and they are super lightweight so you forget you are wearing them! Very high quality and would recommend for casual wear! My only gripe is they were a little loose on my ear and if I ran they would bounce a little, hitting my ear, making it a little annoying at times.

Great battery life. So comfortable I wear them every night
VERY comfortable. INSANELY GOOD battery life, battery management, and charging speed. I listen to audiobooks and podcasts most of the time. Sometimes music, but I’m NOT an audiophile. I think the sound is very good, and I would 100% buy these again if they were stolen, but look to other reviewers for a serious assessment of music quality. Shokz absolutely honors their warranty, and their tech support is responsive. My only caution: if you’re all-in on Apple and regularly listen to more than two Apple devices, Apple’s own headphones have a real ecosystem advantage. The OpenFit 2 can multipair to two devices at a time, which is typical of non-Apple Bluetooth headphones. Apple’s device switching, by comparison, is remarkably elegant: AirPods can automatically move among supported Apple devices signed into your Apple Account. There’s also a practical annoyance with ordinary Bluetooth multipoint that may not be obvious until you live with it. At home I’m usually near both my iPhone and iPad, so my Shokz may be connected to both. If I walk out of range of one while still using the other, the Shokz periodically alert me that they’ve lost that connection. AirPods handle moving among Apple devices much more seamlessly. That’s not a criticism of Shokz so much as something Apple users should know before buying. I own AirPods 4 and AirPods Pro 3, and I STILL regularly use my Shokz because they fit so well, are extremely comfortable, and (almost) never fall off.

Just Wow!!
Okay I bought these after seeing a review from CES. I wanted to replace my Poxel Buds pro 2 because they just disappointed with fit (things fall out all the time even with the new twisty thing) and thought I'll give these a try. I wanted buds that didn't fall out (or feel like they were about to fall out), and these are the answer. Fit is amazing and stays in place. I was a little weary of sound quality but, dang, these things sound incredible and can get really loud (almost too loud paired on my Samsung 24 Ultra). Sound is rich and clear and, no, others can't hear what I'm listening too even with the volume cranked. Do I miss ANC?? No! Honestly, ANC is kind of a pain - it drains battery and you constantly have to turn it off or take a bud out if someone starts talking to you. An aside - can we just all agree that if you have buds on, that's a universal sign for DO Not Disturb?? Anyway, I found myself doing that all the time walking my dog and after using these, I think I like open ear (and the added awareness) much better than ANC. If you think you'll be distracted by outside sound (like i thought), you won't be. It's an odd and comforting in-between experience where you can be lost in what you're listening to but also be cognizant of things around you if you want to be. You may have to try these for this to make sense. Comfort? Yes and yes. I forgot these things were even on my ears. Battery life? Umm- 48 hrs! And you get that without all these special conditions. Pixel buds got 12 hours if all features were turned off and I was listening to AM radio and my left arm was raised at a 30 degree angle. What about calls and the mic? Again, better than I hoped. My friends couldn't tell I was on wireless buds (I asked), when speaking even on a windy night outside. Is there anything wrong with them? Not that I can see. Pairing was seemless, Shockz app and features are great, smooth interaction and I like that there is a physical button and touch gestures to control the headphones. Nothing is perfect though and here is what I would change: The position of the physical button. I accidently press this every time I put them on - it's probably the way I put them on so I maybe I can adapt. The case - So the headphones look and feel like pure quality. You can tell right away that these are designed to perform and last. The case, which I'm sure is equally well designed but just feels like an after thought and I think that's because it's so light. It works perfectly and this could very well just be a me thing. Also with the case, these things fit in their little home perfectly - too perfectly. They can be a little difficult to get out. I have big hands though so again, could just be a me thing. All in all, great set of wireless open ear buds. Exceeded my expectations and eliminated my "concerns" about life with open ear headphones and I think all 5 out of 5 dentists would agree with me here.

The best headphones for situational awareness!
These headphones are perfection! The main use I have for them is when I take my dogs on their nightly walks, which usually go for 3–5 miles. I live in Rural Colorado and having situational awareness, even out here, is huge! Not only for hearing wildlife, but cars, trucks and ATV's some of which don't have lights to alert you to their presence. My old headphones used microphones to relay the surrounding noises, but if it was even slightly windy, and it is windy a lot here in North-West Colorado, the wind noise in the mics would be too great, and you would have to turn off that functionality depriving you of your situational awareness. But these, you can hear everything absolutely transparently along with the music. Of course the louder you are listening, the less you will hear, but even at volume you do still hear a lot of what's going on around you. The sound quality also degrades the louder you go, but let's face it: If you are wanting situational awareness, you aren't going to be listening to music, or audiobooks all that loudly anyway. And at lower volumes, the sound quality is actually pretty good. Is it AUDIOPHILE quality? Not by a long shot! But the bass response is good, the clarity is excellent, and you end up feeling like someone is following you around with a decent quality boom box behind you. The audio, while centered on your ears, feels like it's part of the environment, which you can also clearly hear. And the wind noise, is exactly the same as if you weren't wearing the headphones at all. I have also used them for making phone calls and the clarity was superb. Not once did the person I was talking to have to ask what I had said, and I could hear them crystal clear! I also love that I can customize (via the app) what the buttons do, and that there are physical (not touch) buttons to use, so accidental button presses are much less frequent. There is a "touch" area for triggering whatever "assistant" the connected device has, but I have never accidentally triggered it. My one minor gripe is they can be knocked off the head a little easily. A little care on the users part and shifts in behavior eventually counteract that. But it can (and has to me several times) happen. It wasn't enough for me to knock just one star off this review though. Still, extremely happy with them! For clarity the devices I used with these headphones were: FIIO M9: My old DAP that only has Bluetooth 4.2. Pairing was a snap, and I would get about the same amount of signal loss as I would with my old headphones so am writing that off to the FIIO's Bluetooth, not the headphones. HiBy M300: My new DAP with Bluetooth 5.0. Also no problems in pairing. The first night, I was getting signal loss like with the M9. But for some reason ever since then the connection has been rock solid! Maybe one or two instances of signal loss over a 90-minute walk. Samsung Galaxy S22 with Bluetooth 5.2: Used for the phone calls. Again, pairing was a breeze, even doing the dual connection feature in the SHOKZ app, and it worked great on phone calls.

A Runner's Must Have
EDIT: I am unfortunately going to have to update my review until this gets resolved. I've had these maybe two months now. I am now running into a consistent issue where they will not turn off when I put them back in their case, keeping my devices connected to them. First time, I thought it was a low case charge. But it has since come back and is a repeat issue, despite a full charge. I am sitting here right now after opening and closing and removing them from the case and putting them back in, and they will not shut off. Worse still is that I've had a few occasions where they do the opposite and won't power on. I have two sets of Samsung Galaxy Buds+ that are over 4 years old that still both work flawlessly. These are two months old. Why did you pick this product vs others?: I only just discovered the magic of open ear headphones. I do a ton of running and biking. Situational awareness is critical in these situations, lest you want grievous injury from missed audio cues. My only experience with this style so far are these and the Cleer Ark 3s. I like these a lot better. I was able to put on a pair of these at a display and was blown away by how much warmer and richer they sound than my Cleers, not to mention more comfortable. These things are REALLY comfortable. Last night, I started getting worried because I couldn't find my left one. It was in my ear... I was also tired. But still. I don't get any pressure points with these. Sound: as I said above, very rich considering how they are positioned in my ear. They are NOT bassy. If you're a big audiophile and want to sit and listen to the next album with punchy bass, it's probably worth saying once, you need good over ear or in ear headphones. These are meant for situational awareness. These do a really good job at being good sounding while letting you hear what's going on so you don't have to rip one out as you're saying "what?" to someone who walked up and started talking to you. Audiobooks and the like are really good. I've been listening to LOTR narrated by Andy Serkis. It's like he's talking right next to me in a room. I can still hear what's going on, but it's very clear and you can hear all the undertones in his voice. I listen to primarily rock and metal, along with various other types. These won't blow your socks off as I've already alluded to. I don't think they're meant to. I finally took them out on a real bike ride yesterday. Overall, I can hear very well. Just like my Cleers, when I'm pushing over 20 mph with some strong winds, it can get hard to hear without cranking up the volume. Probably just part of the deal with this design. But unlike the Cleers, where I hit max volume all the time, these have a lot of head room. Fit/comfort: I really like how these fit on me. But that's such a personal thing. These don't have any adjustment. The Ark 3s have a little bit of articulation and reach adjustment built in, but these sound and fit better without that. The contact surfaces are pretty much all soft rubber material. They stay right in place for the most part. I have worn these with various glasses. Eyeglasses, Oakley sunglasses, cycling glasses. I don't wear anything with wrap around ear pieces, so I can't say how well these would interface with those. But they work well for me. Controls: They have a physical button and a touch pad for their assistant feature, which I admittedly have not used much. I really liked the idea of a physical button. Other headphones like my Samsung Buds 2 pro or my Cleer Ark 3 claim weather resistance. But the touch controls become unusable in a light sprinkle, and sometimes get a mind of their own. So for what I use them for, a button is the perfect solution. There's also a subtle little beep when you press. You press once to play/pause, twice for next, three times for previous, hold for volume changes. There is one little limitation. Doing 3x to go back in your audio book is a lot harder than touch controls for some reason. It's a little picky about how fast you do it. Too fast and it won't register 3, too slow, and same thing. And one thing Samsung does better is you get 2 or 3 beeps AFTER the input so you know if you've gone forward or back. These beep with the presses. So there have been a few times I didn't realize I was actually skipping forward in my book. So that's the one negative I have about the control scheme. Battery life: As advertised. I haven't charged the case in at least a week and I'm still at 50%. App and features: The app is actually pretty good. It offers five EQ presets and a custom five band equalizer. Again, the sound isn't studio quality, but it does make a difference. You can customize the controls to an extent. Mostly, you can mix and match what single, double, triple, and hold buttons do. The touch pad can only be used for your choice of assistant. You can turn the touch pad function off completely. You can change the audio cue volume, which is nice. You can enable to disable multipoint pairing. I love the way they do it on these. I have them paired to my phone, laptop, and steam deck. Once paired, you can have two connected at once. You cannot stream audio from two sources at the same time. Whichever device started playing first gets priority. Once paired, if it's not connected, you can grab the Shokz from your device's bluetooth list and connect WITHOUT putting the Shokz in pairing mode. This then replaces the oldest connected device. IE, if I connected my phone, then my laptop, then my Steam Deck, it will drop my phone. So far, this works SO MUCH BETTER than my Samsungs. If I'm listening to something on my phone and turn on my laptop, they'll just drop what I was doing and connect to those. The Shokz do not have that problem. It's so nice how well this works. One interesting thing worth noting because neither my Samsungs nor Sonys do this. If I have them paired to my laptop and phone and I walk away from home, I'll hear them make a sound as my laptop drops. Then I hear the connect sound when they reconnect as I come back. OR, in the case of Steam Deck, which goes into full sleep when I lock it, the BT turns off. So if I had it connected to my phone and Steam Deck, I'll hear the Steam Deck drop when I put it to sleep. But they DO NOT just go searching for the next thing to connect, like my laptop. They will latch onto the devices you last manually connected, and ONLY those. This is the best implementation of this I have seen by any brand. My cars, and many others just grab whatever BT device they can find and start playing whether you want them to or not. Great job, Shokz. Case: Yeah, this is where I was really tempted to take a star. Opening up the case belies the quality of the headphones. The case feels extremely cheap. It's hard, low-grade plastic that feels like it belongs in a McDonald's kids toy. There's no soft touch/rubberization so they can be very slippery to hold on to. Opening the case presents the same problem. I don't get the impression that the case will last years of being in my pocket. But where they did do a good job is the physical layout of the case. The ear pieces overlap, so you don't end up with this huge chungus to carry in your pocket (like the Cleers). AND there's no left or right preference, meaning you can put the left OR right in first, and they will fit just fine. The magnets are very strong. Strong enough that you have to kind of pry them out with your fingers, but then again, every time I drop my Buds 2 Pros, they explode across the room, so this might be a good thing. All in all, if you are someone who is out running, riding, hiking, walking, and you want to be able to hear what you're listening to, but still hear the world around you, these are absolutely a good buy. And considering when I got these, their normal price was the sale price of my Cleer Ark 3s, these are very much a good deal. If it comes at the cost of a case with cheaper feel, then that's fine. But they should work on that part. PS. I should add this because some things like my partner's old Bose earbuds seem to lack basic common sense design. You can use these independently of each other. One or both in the ear, with or without the case nearby. The one sad thing is there's no way to power these off and on without the case. It's a very uncommon thing to have. The Cleer Ark 3s have this, though it does not work well. I'll bet this could be implemented into these via update. Seriously, how about a triple-click and hold for three seconds to power on and off? The Cleers have this, but fail in that they somehow magically detect 3x+hold when they're off, facing away from my body, in my hydration belt pocket. With physical buttons, I'm better this would work very well here.

Excellent product
Perfect alternative to my Shokz open run fit headphones. Good quality and sound, perfect for hearing noise around you but not spoiling the sound quality of the music. They are a bit on the large size for my ears but have not come off on a run. They pair easily with my Pixel phone and Macbook so no issues with android or iOS. Nice charging case with its own little storage bag so good for travel. Battery life is excellent and seems to last several days but not really monitored it properly. Sound and clarity is excellent but can still hear your surroundings. Would definitely recommend them

Used every day for a year - still Amazing!
I bought these headphones as a gift almost a year ago, and I honestly have to say it was probably one of the best gifts I’ve ever given someone. They’ve been used every single day for the past year, and the person I bought them for absolutely loves them. The battery life is excellent, they’re waterproof, and in the beginning he even wore them in the shower because he couldn’t get enough of the sound 😄 The sound quality is surprisingly clear and enjoyable. I actually appreciate that they don’t completely block out the outside world. They feel much safer for cycling, walking, or simply being out in public because you can still hear what’s happening around you while enjoying your music. Another huge advantage is comfort. Since they don’t seal your ear canal like silicone earbuds, your ears stay ventilated and comfortable even during long listening sessions. No ear pain or that “plugged up” feeling. The only thing worth mentioning is the fit. They seem to fit larger ears better. I tried them on myself, and they felt a little loose because I have smaller ears. But since they were a gift for a man, the fit turned out to be perfect for him. After a full year of daily use, they’re still going strong, and I would absolutely recommend them.

They don’t fall out yay
Work very well, have tried them on a long cycling trip and running, as well as at work. They’re comfortable, not scared of them falling out and because they’re not in your ear but on top of them, no ear pains. They’re not noise cancelling but that’s actually a plus with cycling/running because I wanna keep hearing my surroundings. Long battery life too, haven’t had to charge them yet, think they’re still on 70% and the case 100%, it’s been two weeks now.

Perfect for bedtime podcasts and then sleep
These are superb for listening to podcasts in bed and then sleeping. No cables, perfect connectivity and you can use one or both. They hold their charge for days. Tricky to get in and out of the box but that’s nothing. Ive bought 2 x lots just in case I forget to charge one set. I absolutely recommend them for bedtime listening. I paid for both sets myself and am not sponsored.
