Do you need a subscriber id from the dmr-marc website to program this radio?

Absolutely not. This radio can be programmed and operated WITHOUT a subscriber ID. The subscriber ID is only needed to use the DMR repeater systems. FM repeaters, FM simplex, and DMR simplex work just fine without it.

?is this p25 compatible or aprs capable?

Not P25 Compatible... This uses DMR digital.

Is the receiver superheterodyne or direct conversion?

This is a direct Conversion, however it is much more resistant to desense than the Hd1. With another ht it has to be within a foot or so to desense the receiver in this radio. I find it to be almost as resistant to desense as a superheterodyne.

Has anyone had an issue with the internal speaker? Mine quit working while I was listening to repeater traffic. External speaker still works

Yep, you'll want to reset the radio and retest audio. Test after reset but before uploading a code-plug again. Sometimes if a code plug file gets wonky uploading it to the radio can make it wonky too.
