Review: ORIGINAL BRAND BLUMAT FROM AUSTRIA WORKS WELL - I bought 1 package containing 3 Blumat Carrot Sensors (ORIGINAL MADE IN AUSTRIA) for Authomatic watering plants inside home, and I have been following a checking by 3 weeks before I travel. Its works perfect!. By the other hand I compared it with other cheaper authomatic watering stakes (NOT original ) that I bought before from another Brand, and not all the stakes worked well as some of them weren't properly seal up made (licking) . Therefore I reccomend to pay some more for the original Blumat ones.
Review: Does the job - The watering cones do the job perfectly. I went away for a month, so I used them for a croton and a ficus that need watering once a week. The suitable amount of water was gone from the glass containers and the plants were watered and fine. Highly recommended. Just follow instructions on the packaging and obv water the plants before, otherwise all the water for being away will be gone too quickly. The soil must be saturated so cones replenish rather than fully water.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this the xl or the jr?**
A: I think the 6 pckg Is The KL is 4 x 2 x 2 Inches. The Jr is 4x 1.25 x 1.25 inches is the one with 3 of them.
I bought the 12 pckg one. Works great.
Hope thus helps.

**Q: One of the three I bought is not working at all and my peppers almost died while I'm out. How to troubleshoot this thing?**
A: #1 Did you remove the green top and soak the clay portion in water for a while? #2 Did you then fill the clay part with water, firmly place the green cap, and immediately immerse the end portion of the tubing into a container of water? #3 Did the tubing then start to draw water? (Somehow, the green cap creates a vacuum-like action that allows water to continuously flow to the clay portion.... One reviewer suggested slitting a straw lengthwise, and then putting the lowest portion of the tubing inside the straw. This keeps the END firmly in the bottom of the container of water so that it doesn't "float" and not thus not be able to have a continuous supply of water. For me, these work great. I've used these things for quite a while, and never had a problem with them. So if one of them is still giving you problems, it might be defective.

**Q: how high will the water lift with the bottle on the floor and the hose intake at the bottom of the bottle?**
A: The instructions are to put the water reservoir level with the top of the soil for optimum watering. The water intake will be slower if you put the water source lower than that. To answer your question, if the water source is at the bottom of the pot where the intake valve of the Blumat rests, you'll get the least water intake. I would put the water source no lower than midway between the top of the soil and the bottom of the pot. I've used this particular junior Blumat when I was away for 30 days using 2 Blumats on each 13"dia. x 12" H pot with a water pail of about the same size to hold the water reservoir and it performed really well. I came back home with the top of the soil moist and my plants healthy. I'm not sure what you mean by hose intake -- do you mean the intake valve that is attached to the Blumat that rests at the bottom of the water reservoir? Use several Blumats if you have a large pot and make sure your water reservoir is big enough. I used mine indoors, unattended, so I don't know how it will perform outdoors, but I imagine it will perform as well as it should, provided you fill the reservoir regularly when the water level runs low. Please read the instructions carefully that comes with the package. This is a great system, but it has limitations depending on how much the water level is unattended.

**Q: We have several 3 gal. pots in the house. Will one stake handle one 3 gal. pot, or should I use 2 stakes ?**
A: It depends how much the plant in the pot is drinking. These stakes deliver about 125ml every 24 hours, or a bit over 4 ounces of water every day. I would begin experimenting with a single stake, and if your plant seems thirsty or the soil seems dry, you can always add another.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Does the job

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ They seem to work just fine.
*by K***K on 11 January 2019*

I bought these for an extended holiday during which I needed to keep my plants watered. I must say I was impressed. I considered the variety with the bottle attached, but they end up being very bulky for use in small plants pots, they can tip the vase or damage the foliage. So I opted instead for these ones. They did they work well. I placed the cone as instructed in water to soak, filled it and connected the tube, filled with water to the cone with one end in a reasonably sealed water container (to prevent evaporation, but not tight so to allow water flow). I stuck the cone in the soil and left it there. My only gripe is that it is difficult to gauge the speed at which they will dispense the water and when I came home I found they had all run out... but cannot say how long before. The plants were fine so no biggie... but it would be good to have an indication beyond the ml/hour rate which I found to be a bit inaccurate and possibly a bit faster than described. I guess this depends on the conditions of the soil, the relative height of the syphon/container and pressure/depth considerations. All in all I recommend them, but I advise, for longer holidays, to test them before and attach them to an appropriately large water tank, to be sure they will work throughout the period. One star is lost for the limited instructions and slightly unpredictable watering rate.
