Solid Tri-Band Wifi7 Mesh System
This mesh router system replaced an older Netgear dual-band Wifi6 unit that has been running for over 7 years, 24/7, and is now out of support. We decided to replace that router before it failed on us, as we work from home and cannot afford to lose our network. Our older system did cover the entire house, but there were definitely weak spots where connection speeds would drop and the older unit did not cover our entire backyard very well. This new mesh system provides outstanding coverage throughout every part of our house - we have gigabit fiber internet and with three nodes, this system is easily able to saturate that, giving full speed even at the furthest edges of the house and yard. We chose to use the same SSID and passphrase as our old router, so every internet-connected device in our house connected automatically, as soon as we powered it on and it initialized itself. Setup took a few minutes for the unit to boot up, connect to our fiber gateway, and then connect to its mesh nodes. After that, we simply relocated the nodes roughly evenly through the house, one on the main level along with the base unit, and one upstairs in the game room. The result? Perfect signal throughout the entire house and yard. The Asus software is straightforward and easy to use, and provides excellent real-time monitoring and logging capability, along with now-standard features like firewalling, custom domain keyword blocks, VPN support, etc. The unit also supports a guest network as well as an older-spec dual-band “IoT” network for any smart devices in the home that may not be fully compatible with Wifi7. Each of the three units has several ethernet ports for hardwired connectivity for non-Wifi devices in addition to simply extending the network mesh. Handoff for devices moving through the house like smartphones and smart watches is seamless. Everything in the house simply works, from streaming boxes, tablets, phones, watches and smart home devices. All in all, this is an excellent choice for a typical highly-connected modern house.

Great WiFi Setup For 1800sq ft
Easy to set up and provides excellent security and fast internet. Strong signal strength across 1800 sq feet. Uses a standard power plug and I’ve got mine in power strips. 1 primary placed next to my router. 2nd wired plug in to PS5 for faster speeds for gaming. 3rd to get coverage on the other side of the house. No problems since I set it up. Mobile app lets you check the status and health of the set up at any point in time. Also, the white colour and sleek design make for a pleasant aesthetic in the home. Not ugly like a lot of IT equipment seems to be. I highly recommend it.

Junk for a big cost
Performance is worst than a $30 device. After paying so much, the network is very spotty even closer to the device. One of the device doesnt even connect most of the times. It needs a restart every day. Mobile phones have hard time connecting. Only the main device works fine other 2 are very bad. Avoid buying this junk of a piece.

Updated Review - Now Recommended
Update as of December 2025 ASUS released a firmware update in November of 2025 that highly recommended performing a factory reset of all mesh routers in the system after completing the update. Since updating and performing the factory reset, all issues I previously experienced have been resolved. This mesh system is fast, stable, and I can absolutely recommend purchasing it now. I will update my review in the future if any issues arise. Do not buy this mesh wifi system. Intermittent connection issues that have no clear or consistent resolution. Sometimes rebooting the entire system fixes the issue, sometimes it doesn't. From my troubleshooting, the issue appears to be a problem with the mesh systems ability to resolve DNS requests. I have performed every troubleshooting step in the book, and the issue persists. Multiple factory resets, multiple firmware updates, daily/nightly reboots, multiple setting/configuration changes, and the problem continues. When it works, it is great. Unfortunately I have spent more time troubleshooting this $600+ system than I would like to admit. Stay away. I am shocked to see a product from Asus have these issues. I purchased this system months ago and was willing to give Asus a few months to release a firmware update that fixed it. 5 months later the issue persists and based on the other reviews I am not the only one.

Great features, range, stability but user manual needs an update & SSID bug
Setup says to plug in a few feet apart and run setup, then move to final location. I found that when you move nodes to final location after they worked fine next to each other they won't reconnect no matter what. I did a hard reset on nodes for them to reconnect and they've been stable and performing well for 3 weeks now. I have a remote outside surveillance camera 250 ft. from a node and am getting a great connection. However, I believe I found a bug in software. First, the user manual for browser needs to be updated to match latest software release that is pretty mature as of 12-2025. I switched off SSID which is on completely different menu from where it is in manual and it took all wifi off-line illuminating red lights. Fortunately I was connected to router via Ethernet and could switch SSID back on restoring wifi service. If you don't have Ethernet connection to router I suggest you do so if you plan to deviate from default settings or implement advanced features. I have not used phone ap. I bought the ASUS for it's advanced business class features and administration application upgrading from a Cisco business class router that is no longer supported. Setting aside SSID bug I am happy with purchase so far.

tri band Mesh Magic
I had to connect to my old Qfiber pod to get it to recognise the internet but once connected was able to switch connection to the fiber modem. I thought setup in the app was great and was able to easily set up the IOT network, Guest network, and main network. Went from buffering and game freezing with my Qfiber pods to perfect internet and download speeds near 500MBS which is what my Fiber connection is rated. I also like that I could turn off the LED on one of the nodes as it is in the bedroom and I don't like all the extra light pollution at night. I also like that the system allows you to set an automatic system reboot to clear the system. You pick the time and frequency. Very happy so far

Known issue working with Verizon FIOS directly connected to the OTC
If you subscribe to Verizon FIOS and are connected directly to the OTC (not through their router), this router will begin to fail after 30 days to obtain a new IP address, essentially disconnecting. It than requires a hard reboot of the OTC and router. The issue will start persisting every 24-72 hours. I’m an IT professional that builds networks for a living. I was unable to resolve this issue. Even with a timed reboot every 24 hours. It’s an issue with Verizon not recognizing the new MAC address. The only solution is spoofing the MAC address and I consider that unacceptable. My old router worked just fine and my new one does as well. Therefore, regardless of whose problem this is, I place the problem with ASUS. If you are not with Verizon or you are with FIOS but use their router as a bridge, this is an excellent router! this only reason why I gave it two stars instead of one. I was a big ASUS fan and have owned a few of their routers over the years. I also prefer Verizon’s 2k connection over the other providers in my area. So the Asus had to go.

Great mesh network
Great routers make a great network. The ASUS app makes set up and configuration easy. We live in a two story house and there are no dead zones. My older AI Mesh routers are compatible with these, so I might add it in my home office. These have an ability to create an IoT network and i am moving my smart home devices to it.

Performance not what it should be
Upload compared to my Eero 6+ was horrible. Download was marginally better. On paper this is a good gigabyte system but in reality it had lesser range. Ended up returning it. App and settings are great though. Maybe only the upper end units like the BQ16 actually perform like they should.

a Good buy if you hate your self
On paper, it looks great but in reality, it’s a disaster. Constant random disconnects, and the LAN port only works sometimes!!!. Honestly, don’t even waste your time and money. A 20-year-old router would be more reliable than this peiceof JUNK.

Extremely odd 1Gbps lan ports
Only having 1Gbps lan ports makes it extremely odd and difficult to use. Although signal is solid and works as expected. Spend few more hundreds for BT8 or even get other brands is smarter move. Seriously, I don't think having only 1Gbps lan ports is acceptable at this price.
