OXO Good Grips Airtight POP Medium Cereal Dispenser (3.4 Qt)

As always, OXO delivers and is worth the extra few bucks. Easy to open, pour, clean. Quality plastic, nothing about it feels cheap. Cereal stays fresh. Fits 18 oz box of cereal with room to spare, but it’s not any bigger than the box so it doesn’t look or feel too large on my countertop. No more annoying bag, love it!

I like plastic storage containers, and after a lot of trial and error I’m learning what the difference is between ones that do a good job and ones that do a great job. I’ve found OXO rarely lets me down. You pay a lot more for them but what you get is something that is well thought out and well made. And it seems like they have something for every purpose. WHAT IT IS In this case I wanted a container that is roughly the size and shape of an average cereal box that holds about 20 ounces. The reason is that when I buy cereal at the membership clubs they usually come in two cello bags which are really awkward to store on my cereal shelf along with the prepackaged ones from the grocery stores. This one is the ideal size and shape, has an easy to grip handle and maybe the best design pop open pour top of any I’ve seen. It’s a strong clear non-flexible plastic that reveals the contents and has one feature that makes it stand out among all of the rest. THE FEATURE I LIKE MOST What I like most isn’t really a features as much as a design that’s free if any latches or other things that can cause it to catch on other things in my cupboard. The top is just a press to fit rubber gasket with no latches at all. It doesn’t look like it would stay in place but it does. To use it you just press down on a teeter-totter type flap and the front end pops up just enough to smoothly pour almost any cereal, even mini shredded wheat. The design mean nothing will get stuck on the way out – no crevices to have to clean. When you press down on the flap it locks securely in place with a second rubber gasket. CLEANING A cereal container doesn’t require a lot of cleaning but from time to time I would want to do more than wipe it with a damp paper towel. For those instances the flap slides off and every part is exposed to deep clean in the sink. YES OR NO The reason I chose this one is that it is one of the few that fits exactly where a cereal box would in my cupboard. It’s simple and no hassle. They have a three-pak that saves a few dollars but I only really needed or wanted one. Do be careful, there are other sizes that look very similar, only one of them is 3.4 quart. I won’t ding them for this but it’s frustrating that OXO never listens to customers and they still refuse to give simple exact measurements for most of their products, insisting instead on referring to how many quarts it holds which in my opinion is useless – who can visualize the size of a container and if it will fit in a pantry or other place by how many quarts it holds, and who measures the contents of cereal boxes in quarts? Those rare times that a product page has any dimensions at all it is for the size of the outer box they use to send it to you. It’s amazing a company could be so out of tune with how their customers think. Despite that, I like this product.

I got this cereal dispenser because my washing machine is broken and so I've been hand washing everything from the kitchen sink (I soak everything in small plastic garbage bins, then rinse and the work is done), and so I was keeping a container of washing powder on my kitchen counter. But, I'm a minimalist and so wanted to hide away this kind of thing. The space under my kitchen sink where I planned to hide the washing powder was already maxed out, so, what to do? Well, I measured and researched and bought this OXO cereal dispenser in the hope that it would work in the odd (at an angle) space it would go to. Well, it fit!!! I didn't have to work a Plan B or anything like that, it fit right where I wanted it to on the first try. And now I'm thrilled because eventhough it makes the space under my sink a little more cramped, it still works and I still cleared my counters like I had wanted. And also, this thing is huge!!! I don't put my food in plastic containers, but if a person wanted to use this container for food, I would say this container is apt for cereal for a beefy man because it's so big. If you want this for convenience, in general I would say to size down, imo. I already have the OXO penny-jar POP container, which I keep under my kitchen sink to store SOS pads, etc. (so they don't get wet when my sink occasionally leaks). I love the POP lids and was hoping to find another use for an OXO POP container, and now I have it in the cereal/washing powder dispenser!!! These containers are high quality, well thought out, and I recommend them to anyone. I will continue to buy them as the need arises because the quality and utility is so great!

GREAT for cereal. No longer need to wonder if the spouse has closed up the bag - no more stale cereal! Highly recommend!

I purchased the extra small to go with a larger one that I also like. They are a bit pricey but well-made. The extra small is perfect for bagged popcorn, nuts, granola, etc. I use the larger one for cereal. I love the option of being able to hold it comfortably and pour the amount I want. I suggest checking the sizes/ounces depending on what you plan to use them for. They will last a long time. Highly recommend.

These containers work well for storing cereal, pouring it into a bowl, and keeping away from ants, etc.

This review is for the 2.5 qt “small granola cereal” size. See photos. I didn’t buy it for granola but it will hold 8.9 oz box of cereal. The “medium cereal” container size holds a 12 oz box “Large size” box on cereal. This may be confusing. For “Family” sized cereal boxes 18oz or more, you will need the “Bulk cereal” container. Tip: When securing the lid, keep the pour spout open, press the top down tightly, then close the pour spout. The seal is so tight it can be tough to put on or lift off if you don’t open the spout to release some air first. It does NOT have gaps as some have mentioned, if you place the top on properly. Pros: Easy to hold. Bottom of container is easy to clean. Fits nicely on my pantry shelf and looks neat. Extremely air tight!! Maybe not as tight as a canning jar but it’s not made for liquids and it’s far better than just a chip clip! There are sugar ants where we live and so far no issues. Cons: There is nothing to assemble unless you take the rubber gasket off to wash the lid. That is the only reason I deducted one star. When the top gets wet, it doesn’t dry easily. If you’re not careful you could trap moisture in your top and thereby your cereal. I don’t bother running it through the dishwasher for this reason but it does take a while to air dry for some reason. Update months later: Still performing well. Overall a great product and I would purchase again. Just wish I had gotten the right size but there were so many contradicting reviews. Hopefully my pictures tell the story and this helped you.

I wanted a new pop container for my bulk cereal bags. When I did a quick search I saw these new products from OXO and was like YES exactly what I need. What perfect timing too! quick info to help you out: Small: 2.5 quarts___ Dimensions: 4" x 10.2" x 8.2" Medium: 3.4 quarts____________4.3" x 10.2" x 10.5" Large: 4.5 quarts______________4" x 10" x 12.5" As you can see the width and length doesnt really change per size but the height changes about 2 inches at a time. So make sure you measure your shelf if you want it to stand upright. I didnt care if mine stood upright. I lay mine down in the shelf. The top is wider than the bottom so if you do lay it down it will be slanted. I bought 32 oz (2lbs) of a flake cereal and 32 oz (2lbs) of an O cereal (like cheerio's) for the large container. Both those cereals were just barely too much for the container. Maybe like half a bowls worth too much. Not a huge deal. Just eat that extra when you go to use it lol. The pop seal on this is more like a lever action like an alligator mouth. It opens nice and wide so if you have things that are larger like mini wheats or something they would come out with ease without having to worry them getting stuck at the top. It has a nice silicone O ring sealing the cereal inside. The spout is tapered nicely so that it is mess free. Things dont go flying away while you pour. The lids are also interchangeable between all three sizes. I have medium sized hands and this is extremely easy to hold. Dont think just cereal. This works great for oatmeal, rice, flour, and snacks. The plastic is BPA free. My only gripe is with the plastic. Its a minor things but it annoys me. Because it's plastic it tends to generate static electricity and the powder you typically find at the bottom of your cereal box clings to the sides of the container. That's only a minor nuisance but it is there. Some might not like that the container itself is NOT dishwasher safe. Everything is handwash only, with the exception of the silicone ring, which can go in the dishwasher. This isn't a big deal for me but I know a lot of people like the convenience of a dishwasher, so it is something to consider. Overall I really like this product and absolutely recommend it!

Este dispensador de cereales es muy práctico y funcional. Con una capacidad de 3.2 litros, es perfecto para almacenar una buena cantidad de cereales u otros alimentos secos. La tapa hermética asegura que los alimentos se mantengan frescos por más tiempo, y el sistema de apertura POP es muy fácil de usar. Además, su diseño es elegante y encaja bien en cualquier cocina. Bis jetzt sind es die besten Behälter für Cerealien, die ich jemals hatte. Eine Packung passt perfekt rein, sodass keine Reste irgendwo rumliegen. Die Behälter lassen sich gut öffnen und Cerealien aufbewahren.
