Wonderful Insight - Great Resource and Heartfelt Read
I just received this book which I have been meaning to buy for a while. I thoroughly enjoyed it and couldn't put it down. Mr. Shore did a great job not only taking us through his life's journey through autism, but also sidelining it with various observations. I am always amazed at those who ventured on the autism spectrum before the word autism was even recognized by many people. Reading books written by those with autism offer such wonderful insight and perspective. I highly recommend this book for parents who are trying to better understand their child with AS as well as those with AS who are navigating high school and/or college futures. There are some great suggestions and ideas.I especially like how Mr. Shore talked about many of the jobs he held and why he succeeded or what he learned from his not so successful job situations. I think having a supplemental book on this subject alone would be very worthwhile...especially if it came from a variety of viewpoints. Hmmm.Great Job!

Stephen: THANKS FOR GIVING US A VIEW OF AUTISM!! A+!
All I can write is "WOW"! The author Stephen Shore takes you through an amazing journey - his life. I have over 85 books on autism and this is definately my favorite for providing some possible insight on what my autistic son Jeff may be feeling. Not only is the insight amazing and explainations easy to understand - but he gives so much hope. There are few books I have read where I truly laughed, cried, and celebrated his ups and downs (corny but absolutely true.)The authors words have helped me better understand and communicate to my son and for that I am grateful.Stephen has an amazing ability to communicate and provide humor at the scariest thing I have ever seen - autism - is truly a gift to all parents and friends of autistic. Please do your self a favor and read this book. It is a must for everyone's collection.

An Insider's Look At Living With Aspergers
Stephen Shore has written an unusual and worthy addition to the world of literature regarding Asperger's Syndrome.Shore's work explores aspergers from three different viewpoints: as that of a clinician working with individuals with autism spectrum disorders, as an adult who himself has aspergers, and as an adult remembering the challenges aspergers has presented him with over the course of his lifetime. As the parent of two boys with Autism Spectrum Disorders, I was delighted with Shore's explanations of why my children feel the need to do some of the things they do, and what purpose those behaviors serve in their lives. In this reader's opinion, Beyond the Wall is an invaluable guide to anyone who knows someone with aspergers and autism. Shore's writing is right up there with Temple Grandin's, and should be included as a valuable reference book in anyone's collection of books about autism/aspergers.

Beyond Wonderful
As a pediatric occupational therapist specializing in helping children on and off the autistic spectrum with sensory processing challenges, this book was profoundly insightful. Stephen Shore writes beautifully about his childhood and adult experiences and his sensory sensitivities and processing differences. With a stunning capacity to create "word pictures," Stephen provides a fabulous insider's look at what it feels like to be a person who struggles with sensory issues as well as social and communication challenges. This is a must-have book for parents, professionals, and other adults who care about someone with or who have autism/Asperger syndrome. --Lindsey Biel, OTR/L, [...]

Highly recommend if you or loved one or friend struggle with Asperger's!
If you or someone you know as Asperger's, highly recommend reading this book. Courageous author and amazing the level of success given the parents were told to institutionalize him! His stories and challenges so much match my son's struggles. great information
