Steadyrack Fat Bike Wall Mount, Vertical Storage for 2.8 to 4.5 in Tires

This is an excellent bike rack. I shopped around before deciding on this one. Several key factors won me over: -The ease in getting the bike on the rack. Simply stand the bike on its rear wheel (by engaging the rear wheel brake) and push the front wheel into the rack. This requires very little effort and strength. -The design of the rack, which not only effectively holds the weight of the bike but also prevents the weight of the bike from causing the rack to sag over time. -The rack accommodates bike tire widths up to 2.1 inches, making it usable for most standard bikes. The design of the rack securely "cradles" the front tire. -When the bike is on the rack, it easily pivots left or right for easy storage close to the wall that it's mounted on. -When not in use, the rack folds flat against the wall, protruding less than 4.5 inches. Required hardware is included, another plus. If you're mounting the rack to wooden wall studs, installation is relatively easy. If you're mounting the rack to masonry walls (e.g. cinder block), then installation is a bit more complicated since you will need a drill that can penetrate masonry walls.

Great for saving space without compromising accessibility. No more ‘ceiling hoist’ racks requiring Dad to get the bikes down. Now everyone, including my kids, get their own bikes down AND put them away Pros: - Easy to use - Quick access saves time - saves space - Allows bikes to swing or pivot against the wall - Bikes can be mounted as close as 14” apart and still pivot against the wall - Relatively simple installation and online videos available - Simple to put bike up and down Cons: - not the cheapest solution - Drywall anchors included are inadequate (try and use a wall stud) I use the fender racks to hold two 26” beach cruisers with large front fenders. The bikes are held vertically with the rear tire just off the ground. Just tip the bike up on its rear wheel and roll it onto the rack. Then swing the bike to the side until the handlebar is against the wall (tires remain against wall while bike rotates side to side). Installation considerations: - Installation instructions state bikes can mount as close as 14”. This works for similar bikes (two beach cruisers or two mountain bikes), but with different types the handle bars can interfere with each other. You need to move them farther apart or stagger one higher off the ground (impacts ease of storage/retrieval) - Drywall anchors included are totally inadequate. Do not use these to mount into Sheetrock without a stud. I used Snaptoggle anchors (Home Depot, etc.). One reviewer marked this product down for the poor wall anchors. This isn’t unique to this product, included anchors are usually junk. Weight bearing items usually mount to a wall stud for support. I prefer not to pay extra for a product to include quality anchors, and if needed I purchase my own. If your priorities are space and convenience I strongly suggest you look at this rack. The ceiling racks I used were hard for my wife and I to use, and way too difficult for my kids. The bikes just weren’t getting used. I hope this review is helpful in selecting a bike storage solution.

This bike rack is better than I thought it would be. It looks great, it works really well & installation was not that difficult. The pivoting feature is very nice because it gave me plenty of options of where I could install it in my garage. The rack feels very durable & the bike feels very secure on the rack. Installation took about 30 minutes & was not difficult at all. It is more expensive than other bike racks, but I think it was the right choice.

Worth the money, they are super solid, easy to install, an handle large MBTs (tires). The rack swivel function is smooth and my wife has no problems mount and unmounting her bike. Also, the rear tire bracket mounts solid and keeps tire marks off the wall. I installed them along vertical studs, took about 30 minutes for the two pack, only because I measured everything multiple times and was careful with a level to make them straight. For these sort of projects, I use my own hardware most of the time as the hardware supplied is usually cheap. But not this time, the lags supplied were perfect for the job.

I ended up buying three of these to hand my bikes. Super easy install after determining the correct height for each individual bike. Despite being marketed as mountain bike racks they work perfectly well with road bikes (any bike for that matter!). The construction is very heavy duty. I expect to get several lifetimes of use from them. If you stagger the heights you can store several bikes very close to each other (so the handlebars overlap). Don't neglect to install the rear tire holder - it keeps the rear tire in one spot as you rotate the bike left and right. Oh, lastly, getting the bikes on and off the rack could not be easier - you just stand up the bike and roll the front tire into the rack.

UPDATE: I’ve got two installed now and I think it’s fair to revise my original, 2-star, review. These are sturdy and they look good. You actually can have bikes on each stud and they “lay” sideways and save space. The installation was horrific and all stated drill bit sizes were incorrect. Size your drill bits two standard sizes under what the instructions say for you to do (that’s 1/4” for the primary support bolts and i want to say it was 7/32” for the rear wheel, but I’m not certain about that one without looking) on all hardware holes. The end caps are pretty difficult to place correctly as well and take some “finesse”. The measurement process is absurd and I can see why it’s causing multiple issues and making installation drag on way longer than necessary. Just measure your bike from front to back and add a couple inches. Use a level if hanging multiple. After installation, I’m quite pleased with the functionality and performance. They truly have saved a ton of space in my garage over the standard bike rack I already was using. I’ll be ordering and hanging 5 more, now that I can skip the instructions and get the job done quickly.

I bought the two pack for two road bikes and the separate fender pack for two cruisers I had taking up too much space in my garage. Prime shipping was fast and these shipped via UPS. The packaging was compact and easy to open with a box cutter. I had been following this company since they were a kickstarter and had seen their videos so I knew what to expect when I received their product. The steadyrack themselves are well built and you can tell a lot of thought has been put into everything from the design, the packaging, the instructions, their website and so on. Before you get started you need the following items: a box cutter, a tape measure, a pencil, a Philips screwdriver, a socket wrench, a spirit level, a 13mm socket, and the instructions call for a 10mm and a 8mm drill bits, but I used 1/4" and 3/16" drill bits. I also purchased a studfinder from Amazon to ensure I got my holes just right. Steady rack has an excellent installation video on their website at steadyrack.com/video, but their instructions are fairly clear as well and are written using metric as well as imperial measurements. It is very clearly stated that you must mount the Steadyrack into framing studs or masonry or it will void the 12 month warranty. You should not fix the Steadyrack directly to drywall. Installation took about 10 minutes per rack. Overall, this is a high quality item and worth the price paid considering I foresee this lasting many years to come. It frees up valuable space, holds the bike without damaging or putting stress on the tire or frame, and is very easy to load/unload. This is also a great company with excellent customer service who backs their product 100%.

So I have 5 bikes that I want to fit into a space 78 inches wide, and about 9 feet tall. I've been looking at all types of racks for over a year, and almost none of them will work for many reasons. Steadyrack is the only thing I've found that will do the job. The primary feature that lets you pack bikes in tightly is the entire system allows the bike to pivot so it does not have to be perpendicular (90 degrees) to the wall. The instructions are minimal. I recommend going on YouTube for the manufacturer's installation video. In the pack you are provided 4 lag bolts for installing in studs, and 4 companion anchors if you are installing into masonry. The hardest part is planning your installation. In a limited space, I can almost guarantee you will not find a stud where you want to put at least one of the bikes. Rather than try to gin up some sort of board that bolt into the studs, which is messy and will look terrible, go to your hardware store and use expandable metal anchors, which will hold up to 80 pounds each. You put four of them in the wall to fasten the Steadyrack, and it will more than hold the rack & bike, especially since the Steadyrack is only rated for up to 110 pounds. The rack itself is attractive, it folds up when you're not using it, the "beak-like" lip in front catches the wheel and lets you push it easily into the rack, and the front wheel is locked in. So how did I get 5 bikes on the wall in such a tight space? Put the widest, tallest bike in the center of the wall, about 2 inches off the ground. Put a bike on either side as wide as you can fit, and raise them 3 inches up, that way the handlebars clear each other. Then the two last bikes are between the center bike and the adjacent bikes, placed about 30 inches off the ground. To get higher bikes in and out, you pivot the lower bikes out of the way.

Absolutely brilliant. These are really well made and designed supports; completely bombproof. The fitting instructions couldn't have been clearer, and installation took approx' 45 mins (I bought 3). Although I didn't think I would use it, the pivot feature is really useful. I don't mind paying this sort of price when the quality is good. Oh, and you get a 5 year guarantee.

Function is great for indoor use, but this is not a premium product. The build quality is low and after six months in a covered carport it’s already rusted badly.

I bought 3 of these bike racks for my garage. They work extremely well. They are very easy to install and it's very easy to put your bike on the rack and take it off the rack. I also love that you can tilt the bikes to the left and right. It took me a while of searching for bike racks to decide on a style but I really love this bike rack.
