Works fine with my TFA 30.3018 Weather Station but watch out for the German instructions
About three years ago I bought a TFA 30.3018 IT weather station. I am quite happy with the base unit but the external temperature sensors seem to fail after about a year or so. This seems to be a common problem with most makes of weather station (at least at the sub £50 end of the market).The external sensor that shipped originally with the TFA 30.3018 IT base unit is a 30.3143.IT. It was difficult to find one of these so I tried a 30.3146.IT. This works fine although it doesn't have a LCD panel on it like the 30.3143. That lasted another 15 months then sure enough, a week ago, it failed so I started to look around again.This time I decided to try the 30.3147 and it works perfectly with my base unit. Indoors, the temperatures from the external sensor and the base unit are within 0.1C of each other which is good enough for me. Actually, although it is early days, I think I prefer the 30.3147 as it uses AA batteries instead of AAA batteries. In theory, they should 'hold up' better in the really cold weather.Combine this with Amazon Prime Delivery and it arrived the day after I ordered it. My weather station is now back in service for less than the cost and potential unpredictability of an entirely new system.My only niggle is that the instructions are in German (that is why it is only 4 stars). Wait 30s2) Put the batteries in the external unit. Wait 10s3) Put the batteries in the base unit.This is best done with the two devices next to each other. The base unit should recognise the external sensor within a couple of minutes.

A replacement for the original external sensor that didn't survive outside in England. It's a pity they don't make these things waterproof.

Stop working too soon
I bought two of these in September 2022 and both have failed by December 2024. This matches my previous experience with TFA Dostmann wireless thermometers. I have found it best to keep the external sensor in an outside shed so they stay dry, but even so I find they last a couple of years (at best) and then suddenly stop working. This is a bit of electronics that I think should last longer than this. The running cost becomes excessive.
