Arrived today (May 19, 2023), package is airtight, expiration 07/2023, candy is not crushed. No mold or any other kind of weirdness.Now, let me deviate for a minute… Milk M&Ms are usually considered fine for up to 12 months past expiration when stored at room temperature in unopened container, and up to 18 months in the fridge. So for as long as the package is airtight (squeeze it to check), your candy should be good to go. On the other hand, if you received a leaky package – don't bother opening regardless of the expiration date, submit a return claim right away.…So what is it? It's a Christmas special edition of the regular milk M&Ms. They went for a much deeper shade of red and green than usual, so "funny" smell and a very slight "off" taste can be easily explained by the dyes used. Other than that, unless you're an M&Ms connoisseur, you won't notice any difference. Certainly not in a trail mix!Lastly, to address people getting "food poisoning" from it… It's likely psychosomatic.PS: One more thing. This is not a "while supplies last" bargain – the price tracker shows that they were first put on Amazon in December of 2021 at $10, stayed at this price for almost a year, then in November 2022 went up to $11, where they remain (with a very brief drop right after Christmas).

I was disappointed that so many of the m and ms were broken and all seemed to have a dull appearance and were not shiny. I wanted to use them for my holiday cookie baking. I made one batch of cookies but was not satisfied with the appearance. The dull appearance made me wonder if they fresh.
