I've used it on potatoes, mango, and onions so far and it slices right through them. Only bad thing I didn't really like is how unclear the attachments are marked. You have to look really close to a small number to choose which one you want in regards to the size of Julienne cuts. Would be nice to have an attachment that covers the blade when in storage so you don't accidentally cut yourself. Some years back I bought an (I think) Ronko plastic mandoline. Frankly it sat in my cabinet for years not used until the last year when I rediscovered it. It's a very handy kitchen tool and worked very well. When I saw the Kitchen Elite going on sale in Lightning Deals (as you know - the sale price isn't revealed, so I hoped for a good price) - the reviews were very good, even though it was made in China. I bought it and am glad I did. Well made, very sharp, VERY sturdy and it's got some weight to it.
