I took this product for three months and brought my cholesterol down 12 points. This is pretty good for someone who can't exercise. I'm sure I could have done better. I am recovering from a broken leg. I am a retired RN and can appreciate the quality and effectiveness of this product. I discovered the need of the fermentation process to achieve a superb product. And the addition of CoQ10 for cardiac support really sealed the deal for me. I had zero side effects. I see my doctor next week to see if I can continue this regime or go on a statin I am not within range of normal lab value yet. I have added a Mediterranean diet as well for heart health. This is helping my husband lower his cholesterol and triglycerides it is also helping him lower his blood pressure. Excellent product. The doctor told us that this is the same thing as a Statin drug but much safer and she was glad that we were on it. This has no side effects for my husband but I understand that it can have similar side effects as the prescription drug. But as far as my husband is concerned he has not had any side effects and all of his bad side effects he was getting from the statins are gone and so far his blood work is better.

I had been taking this red yeast rice long enough that I purchased 4 total bottles over time. NO MORE. I just learned...backed up with my own research in numerous places, including the Mayo Clinic...that it has the same chemical make up as lovastatin. I refuse to take a statin medication for my perceived high cholesterol, prescription or "natural". I firmly believe that statins are harmful, and are prescribed way too much. I believe a statin sent my mother into horrible over all health...one she had taken for many years. RECONSIDER taking red yeast rice to help lower your cholesterol. I threw the remainder of my bottle away.
