The Kramer Disciple D-1 Bass is part of the Kramer Modern Collection and is Kramerโs premier full-scale electric bass. Featuring a mahogany body, 3-piece satin-finished maple neck, an ebony fretboard with 24 medium jumbo frets, and powered by a powerful and punchy sounding Seymour Duncan SMB-4D bass pickup. Review: Beast - I received my Kramer deciple bass today. Dang what a thumper. Itโs an absolute beast. I highly recommend it for any bass player of any level. For the price you canโt beat it. Review: Kramer Disciple rocks! - Great bass guitar with active EMG pick ups, I play for fun kind of hobby with playing along with my fav bands' songs, I had Spector Performer in same price range but even it was a passive bass so I researched and found out this beautiful gem so I replaced my Spector with this one and no regrets!, I recommend Kramer D1 to any bass lover out there.

plays smooth as silk
bought it a couple months ago and really enjoy it. had to send the first one back as it had a chip taken out of it but they sent a new one no problems. the first one may have been used as it was missing a cord and any tags that came with it

Great Value
Although there have been some negative reviews here on Amazon, I based by purchase on many more positive reviews on other sites knowing that the Amazon price was substantially lower than other options. I was not disappointed. The good: - Instrument is well balanced and not as heavy as many basses - Components are good quality - Active EMG electronics provide plenty of punch and a reasonable degree of tone shaping (although a knob to adjust mid frequency would be nice) - The pearl finish and clean black fretboard look elegant and modern. Online photos don't' show the depth of the paint finish on the body. - Build quality is good but setup wasn't great out of the box (it was left on my doorstep at -20C which didn't help) The not so good: - I am comfortable doing my own setup work - which was good as the tuning, string height and pickup height were way off. I was pleasantly surprised that no truss-rod and only very minor intonation adjustment was needed given the weather at time of delivery. - Fret ends need some attention (as mentioned elsewhere) but mine are not sharp enough to be a serious concern, just less than ideal. The sound is what I would characterize as "bright & punchy" with ample sustain. I've been playing flat wounds for a while now though, so it may be the contrast that is especially giving me that impression. I'm happy with the purchase and think that at less than half of the regular retail price I got a great deal.

neck is smooth and very comfortable to play
This is one of the weirdest mixes of quality I have ever encountered on a bass. Lightweight (good), neck is smooth and very comfortable to play. EMG's mmcs humbucker and preamp are fine. But then whoa problems: -It's made in Indonesia which you can expect to have the shoddiest QA of any country commonly used by guitar companies -Awful fret work. I had to file sharp ends off all of the frets and will probably re-level and re-crown the frets at some point in future. -Bridge is poor quality (I replaced with a Hipshot) -Nut slots improperly filed -Factory setup nonexistent, some screws not even screwed in all the way -The bolt on neck is a poor fit to the body and has a 1mm gap on one side My three star rating is taking in to account the cheap price amazon is currently asking for this bass. At around $350 shipped I think it's a worthwhile purchase as a project guitar. The really important stuff is high quality (mahogany body, ebony fretboard, tuning machines are fine, EMG pickup is fine). It just needs some tinkering to bring it up to potential. After putting some work in to it I do think this bass is great.
