Several Cameras Failed So Far - Bad Cables
I have purchased a number of cameras from VideoSecu over the last year or so, and am disappointed to say this model has been troublesome. I purchased four of these for an installation at a beach house and one is giving me trouble and two others simply cannot be used. The cables for each camera end in BNC connectors and any movement or shifting of the line causes the signal to drop out. It's pretty obvious and I could not find a way to make it work for two of them. The third is in place but sporadically losing signal (I was desperate and needed something installed - I intend to replace that camera next time I am at the house).Once is mistake; three is a manufacturing defect. I bought an extra just in case something happened, but having three of four fail was too much.I have a bullet cam from this firm that is all but bullet-proof. It has survived ice, snow, wind and hurricanes. But not this model.I was on travel and cannot send these back to Amazon because I am two days over the 30-day window on returns. The manufacturer says they will send me an RMA to replace them. Will report back if there is trouble.FWIW, when these work, they work nicely. I have these tied into an Axis 4-port network server that goes into a recorder I built using ZoneMinder. Alarms cause video to be sent over the internet to my permanent home, as well as stored locally at the beach house. We had some troublesome renters that were there when I bought the beach house, and I suspected they were breaking into a second floor apartment. I tried to evict them and failed. One week after putting up cameras they gave notice and left - four months early. So I guess even a broken camera is better than no camera. It scared them enough to leave.UPDATE (January 2012):The seller never sent that promised RMA and I basically gave up chasing them. They won.One of the working cameras I installed at the time of this original review is losing signal a few times a day. This one appears to be another issue other than loose cables, because it goes gray and then kinda fades out. It is technically one of those "under warranty" things, but it's obvious the warranty is a joke to the importer and seller. They are probably the ones who labeled this review "unhelpful".Right back at ya, buddy!

Great value
I have tried several other cameras before i ended up with this model. I have to say that i really like the overall quality of these cameras. They feel and look well built and the resolution and clarity of the camera picture is so far the best of all the cameras i have hooked up to my 8 channel (CIB) DVR.I also own a black version of this same model and i like them so much that i ordered another white and black model of the same type. I'm glad they come in different 'colors' so i can try to match the outside of my house's siding better according to the positions where i place them. These are very easy to install and i like the size of them too. Not too large or too much 'in your face'. They are subtle enough for people to not notice them instantly, and noticeable enough for the people that might have bad intentions and are inspecting your house. So it's a nice little warning without your house looking like Fort Knox. The only thing i can't comment on yet is how reliable they are or how long they will last outside in different weather conditions. I know it doesn't mention anywhere that they are weatherproof but i hope they are and so far they have survived already some rainy days outside. I hope they will last through the winter too. I don't really want to buy an external dome encasing for them because that will make it look ugly and would draw way more attention than i would like to. So fingers crossed that they will last. I might edit this review after the summer or winter season to comment more about how well they survived.

Wide view
This is the camera that should have come with the main DVR kit. When you buy those cheaper 4 or 8 camera security systems like Qsee or Night Hawk, etc..... they come with cameras that have a narrow view.So I got 8 narrow view cameras with my set so I placed 3 of them on the 2nd floor corner soffit of my house. It took forever to adjust them so they don't overlap so much. Then I ordered this dome and its wide view took the place of all 3. I left a second narrow view up to get a closer view of my back yard. But I have to say, If I bought two of these it would do the job of 5 of the narrow ones. Now with wide view there is a trade off. That is the narrow view gives you a close up of one small area so everything looks bigger, but you see less. So figure out what you want to do and buy.I can now see my 2 parked cars, most of my yard and sidewalk with just one of these Sony CCD cameras.Quality is a touch better in detail than the basic ones I got with the kit, but don't expect HD.I plan to buy more. : )

Excellent quality camera.. no mounting hardware
I ordered this camera to replace the one that shipped with my Swann D1 DVR to place outside my door. This camera has a wider view than the standard cameras and the quality is much higher. I'm very pleased with my purchase. I'd give this camera 5 stars if it included mounting hardware (aka screws) so I didn't have to search in my garage for 4 screws to mount it.The instructions are also pretty lacking, but the camera was pretty easy to mount and adjust. You just need to unscrew the bottom ring all the way to get the mounting bracket off. You can then rotate the camera in nearly any position imaginable. Once you have it aimed properly, tighten the ring. It may help if you rotate the camera counter clockwise a bit so that when you tighten the ring, it's perfectly aligned when you have it nice and tight.I'm not quite sure why they included an AC adapter and no screws. I'd much have preferred a bnc/power cable and some screws over the AC adapter.Aside from the missing screws, this is an excellent camera. I wish I would have purchased just the DVR and then picked up a bunch of these cameras instead of using the ones that came with it. The wider view this camera provides would allow me to cover my entire property using less cameras.
