## Description

TotalBoat Polyester Structural Repair Putty is ideal for boat building and repair applications where high-strength structural bonding is critical, such as hull to deck, stringers to hull, liner to hull, and bonding bulkheads. It’s also great for bonding dissimilar composite, fiberglass, wood and metal parts. Its unique combination of high-strength polyester resin and long strand milled glass fiber provides maximum crack and impact resistance in large masses. Just bang it on in one big shot and it holds its shape well as it hardens. This fast-setting marine filler spreads smoothly, is quick to take a radius, and can be built up quickly without sagging. Perfect for fast, easy repairs to fiberglass parts, molds, hulls, decks, canoes, kayaks, runabouts,and more.Polyester Structural Repair Putty is waterproof and great for filling cracks, holes, chips and dents in fiberglass and gelcoat, above or below the waterline. This polyester putty is designed for structural bonding, not cosmetic fairing. For repairs requiring a smooth, easy-to-sand finish, apply TotalBoat Polyester Fairing Compound over Polyester Structural Repair Putty. After the fairing compound cures, sand smooth to prepare for gelcoat, such as TotalBoat Gelcoat with wax, or paint, such as TotalBoat Wet Edge topside paint. If you’re not overcoating the putty with fairing compound, you need to add an air-dry agent such as paraffin wax (4 oz. of wax per gallon of putty) or apply PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) over it. Putty comes with MEKP catalyst (use 1-2% MEKP). This economical, general-purpose, fiberglass filler can also be used to fill joints in sheet metal and fill cracks & voids in wood, masonry, and concrete, making it ideal for automotive, rv and home repair. Review: Goes on smooth, stays put and doesn't run, dries extremely hard! - After I reinforced a hole in the hull with fiberglass and resin, there was still a low spot. I figured it would take forever to keep filling it in with resin, plus the resin is extremely runny so it is hard to get it to stay in the low spot. I came across this putty and out of the can it is extremely workable, not runny, does not sag and stay put. Even mixing in the liquid hardener does not effect it or make it runny. I applied it to the hull and it literally took one coat and evened the low spot out. I mean it goes on so smooth, and you have plenty of time to work with it before it starts to get tacky. The price is very fair compared to other stuff like Bondo which they say you don't want to use for these types of repairs. I have yet to sand it, but it is extremely hard and nothing an orbital sander can't handle. Hope this review helps as I was going back and forth on what fiberglass to use.

**Q: If i used the entire gallon i assume i would use the entire bottle of catalyst. this would be for an art project. what di i add to make it pourable?**
A: Yes 2oz per gallon. You should have about 15 minutes depending on temperature before it starts to gel

**Q: Is there wax added in it?**
A: no wax .fast curing. Don't make a big batch... Great stuff, easy to work with.

**Q: I am doing a deck repair in my 68’ fiberform yellowstone.  can i use epoxy primer over the repair putty and to seal the plywood?**
A: Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out.

You can only put a coating other than Gelcoat/another polyester Laminating resin over the top of this product when it has been surface cured and prepped. The Polyester Structural repair putty stays tacky to receive other Polyester resin products. You would need to Seal it with Totalboat Polyester Finishing resin/Totalboat Polyester Fairing compound/Totalboat Gelcoat with wax/PVA then prep per primers instructions.

**Q: How much area will 1 qt cover?**
A: Honestly it depends on the thickness you need.  This is for filling small holes or building up areas that have been damaged, not for laying fiberglass down.  It will cure quickly so work in small batches.

I figured it would take forever to keep filling it in with resin, plus the resin is extremely runny so it is hard to get it to stay in the low spot. I came across this putty and out of the can it is extremely workable, not runny, does not sag and stay put. Even mixing in the liquid hardener does not effect it or make it runny. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Use this in a well ventilated area, indoor tub repair. Took a couple days for the smell to dissipate

Has title said? Make sure you're in a well validated area to allow the smells to dissipate. I use this to reinforce a deep bathing tub. It removed any side parl flex and reinforced the general form amazingly well. No problems with sag at thicknesses of about 1/4 of an inch. No need for fiberglass sheeting to help hold in place or for extra reinforcement damming. I just mixed like instructed and spread onto the unfinished underside to my desired shape and thickness and took the weekend to allow a full cure. I was using a plastic bag taped to my arm over top of a rubber glove to spread into the far away. Hard to reach crevices as the tub was already installed. At one point I tore the bag and glove and got a decent amount up inside against my skin. But the time I got through with the tight space I was working. I had quite the mess on my hand literally. With some elbow grease and some soap and warm water, I was able to remove all of the putty with only removing a few unfortunate hairs.
