Love Love Love!!
I absolutely LOVEEEE this kindle!! It has been my favorite purchase of the year, by far! I ordered the match green color and it’s perfect! I do have a case on it in the picture so that’s what the black is around the trim! The storage is amazing, battery life is insane, and I love the dark mode reading feature! Very durable and I love how fast it responds when you flip the page. Totally would recommend, it’s been a game changer for this book girlie!

I did not know I needed it until I bought it
I bought this to replace my Kindle Fire HD tablet, which I was only using to read books. I did not realize how much I needed this Kindle until I bought it. The battery life is really nearly 6 weeks. It is very light weight and easy to hold. It fits in my pants pocket so I can easily carry it with me no matter where I go. Very easy to read in all kinds of lighting. I can still enter notes and highlight as I read. The dictionary is easily accessible if needed. What I like most is that it is reliable. When I turn it on, it is ready to go. Great purchase and highly recommend it.

NO MORE SWIPE SCREEN TO OPEN!!! YEA👍 My 5th kindle and the best.
This is my 5th Kindle and I love it. I had the original scroll wheel Kindle, then the 1st gen Kindle Touch, the 1st gen Paperwhite, the10th gen Paperwhite, and now the 11th gen basic Kindle with no locked screen ads. I grew to hate the ads with their stupid blurbs. Never had an ad that appealed to me or led to a book purchase. Plus, I always considered swiping to open the Kindle to a stupid waste of time. It is there to keep the ad in your face a little longer. The Kindle Touch had ads on its locked screen, but there was no swipe to open, it went straight to where I had left off just like my new Kindle. Now this new Kindle with no ads opens instantly to the last page read in the book. When it is turned off the screen shows wonderful images: fountain pen caps, dip pen and ink bottle, pencil points, etc. Very artistic. The screen size is identical to my 11th gen Paperwhite., the body a lot thinner, a little narrower and a little taller. And lighter. This basic Kindle has a tiny bezel. I made touching mistakes with the totally flat Paperwhite bezel when a finger would wonder onto the screen. Almost the whole surface of the case has a lovely satin finish. The "Kindle" name on the front is shiny and the Amazon Arrow on the back is recessed and shiny. I made the mistake of ordering the fabric case after I had ordered the Kindle, and it came 5 days later. I did. not take it anywhere until the case came. I consider the case to be necessary to protect the Kindle when carrying around and it reduces the tendency to slide off surfaces. Also keeps the screen cleaner. Love this fabric case. My mistake with my first Kindle Paperwhite was buying a cheap case to save money. It was imitation leather and a good case until the cheap leatherette surface started flaking off. The cover also warped over time, though that was more cosmetic than a problem. By the time I wanted a new case, Amazon had none to fit it anymore. I learned my lesson and bought Amazon's fabric case with my second Paperwhite and with this new Kindle. The first fabric case looks as good after 4 years of heavy use as it did new. While this Kindle is very lightweight, it has no "cheap" feeling at all. Thinner than all the others. Turning on, downloading. books, searching, opening the dictionary are all much faster than the 11th Paperwhite ever was (it seems to have gotten slower and very quirky this past year. A number of times when I opened the dictionary it froze requiring a restart. Other times it froze and had to be restarted). Not being waterproof is not a problem as I don't read in the rain, near pools, nor the surf. The slight step up from the screen to the bezel does not prevent me from using my remote page turner. The new Kindle came with the battery charged to 50% and lasted most of a week before it dropped to 30%. I charged it to 73% some days ago and, after heavy use it is only down to 69%. I keep the backlight at level 1, which is sufficient for reading in the dark. I have never had any need to have the backlight higher than level 4 on my 2 Paperwhite Kindles used heavily over the past 12 years. Unlike my other Kindles I have kept this one connected to WiFi all the time. I recommend this Kindle for anyone who wants a conveniently portable Kindle that fits in coat pockets and takes up little room in a purse or bag. Buying it at the start of Amazon's Black Friday sale saved me the price difference of not irritating lock screen ads. PLUS I DON'T HAVE TO SWIPE TO OPEN ANY MORE!! Thank you Amazon for having this Kindle eBook reader.

I really need color!
Love this 6 inch Kindle. It is light, print is crisp, but not small. Press lightly and pages turn quickly. It is compact, so it is easy to take it in your purse or pocket. I can go anywhere with phone in one pocket and kindle in other. Battery came about 50% charged, and i have read about 1 1/2 books already m. Still around 30% charged. I suggest you get the bundle with the kindle. The cover is awesome. My only request is that I would LOVE this kindle in color. I am a painter and live in color!

Forget the Paperwhite, Signature Edition etc. THIS is the Kindle you want.
What *should* an e-reader be? In my opinion, very different from a phone or tablet. Using an e-reader should evoke cozy feelings. No distractions, no “hostile” materials that make phones and tablets arguably feel more “premium”, nothing to get between you and your books. This is the fourth Kindle device I’ve owned. Prior to this, I was a not-so-proud owner of a 2nd generation Kindle Oasis from 2017. I was really impressed by the 1st gen model. It was a perfect e-reader. Impossibly thin and light, detachable from the included case that came with extra battery. I avoided buying it, then blindly jumped on its successor. Unfortunately, it was terribly designed and got me reading less over the years. It may have *felt* premium to the designers, but it felt like the opposite of a book. It used IMO hostile materials like cold metal on the back, with sharp edges that left indentations in my fingers after reading for a while. I liked the hardware buttons, but they weren’t enough. Most importantly, the Oasis gen 2 was a tad too heavy to hold up when reading in bed, at almost 200 grams. And it was intentionally shaped to be held one-handed. Although it was designed with the asymmetrical weight balance to make it feel lighter, it still felt too cumbersome to me. Anyway, enough reviewing my last Kindle. For a while, on and off, I looked for a worthy successor, but the Paperwhite models of subsequent years were just as heavy or even heavier. I decided that there wasn’t a Kindle model that was really made for me. Then I got THIS one, and it changed everything. I’ve had it for a few weeks now. I had never truly considered the base model as an option because they didn’t have the front-lit screens years ago. THE GOOD - Truly lightweight at 158 grams. Thank you for designing an e-reader that’s not a chore to pick up and read for long periods of time, even one-handed. - Great materials. Light plastic, doesn’t get too cold to the touch. The matte finish almost makes the front *and* back feel like paper. - Power button is nice and clicky, easy to press, and I’ve never pressed it accidentally. - Comes in a not-boring color (matcha). I’m not *really* into the color, but I’m definitely not into the ubiquitous black electronics aesthetic. I wish there was a white version, but the matcha is fun. - Very performant. Just browsing around the OS is leaps and bounds ahead of the 2017 model. Page flips are so quick, a couple of times I’ve missed the flip transition while simply moving my eyes from the bottom right corner to the top left. As long as future updates don’t make it slower, this will never get old. - Kindle branding is subtle and classy. In some lighting conditions, you can barely see it head-on. - USB-C is a great upgrade from the 2017 model. - Lower price is a bonus. I didn’t buy it for the low price. I got it for the weight. So it’s a win-win. THE NOT SO GOOD - No warm lighting. I get why this is. They want to keep some features exclusive to the higher-end models. But I don’t consider this a low-end model. It’s the compact, lightweight Kindle. I wish there was a small Kindle with premium features. This base model was so close, but not quite there. Even today, while I love this thing, there isn’t a Kindle truly made for me. - BEWARE: The back plastic is very easy to scratch. If you don’t put it in a sleeve or case, the lightest hits and knocks against other hard material will immediately scratch it. Scratches are hard to see in the matcha color, but they’re there if the light catches them right. It’s annoying, but I still like the matte feel. - No hardware buttons. Not a dealbreaker for me, but hardware buttons have a side benefit that I really miss from the Oasis - the ability to turn the touchscreen off while reading. I like putting my hands all over the screen for easier holding. The Oasis would allow this, and to re-enable, you’d have to put it to sleep and re-awaken. Obviously, you can’t do that on this model. Can only hold it by the bezels, OR by sliding your finger up or down and holding it there (vs left or right for page flip). - No way to flip landscape mode upside down. There’s no tilt detection in this model, so you’re stuck with defaults. Want to hold this Kindle in landscape with the thicker bezel in your right hand? Nope, no way to achieve that. It’s on the left side. I hope they improve this with an update one day. I love this *only* for the weight and size. This is how all e-readers should feel. I wish there was a premium small and light Kindle with all the bells and whistles, and that would be the truly ideal one for me.

Great for getting back into reading
This is my first kindle. I’m trying to get back into reading. Best choice ever. 2 weeks in and I’ve finished 7 books. Getting the unlimited is a must! Physical books are getting so expensive so this felt like the cheaper option. $12 a month and you have access to SO many books. I love the ease of the touchscreen. You can adjust text size to make it readable to you. The reaction time on the touch screen is super responsive, turns pages and scrolls fast. I also love that you can look up words to see what they mean if you don’t know. I plan on getting my 13 year old son a colored one, also an avid reader and his books are also very expensive. He tried mine out and while i love the black and white more book feel, he wished he had color to some of the graphic novels. Overall if you like reading books, but have too many laying around, like me, that you’ve read once or 1000 times try this one out. It pays for itself after a couple books.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rediscovered My Love for Reading
The newest Amazon Kindle 16 GB has helped me rediscover my love for reading books. It’s lightweight, comfortable to hold for long reading sessions, and the display is crisp with excellent contrast, making the text incredibly clear and easy on the eyes. I can read for extended periods without feeling any eye strain. The 16 GB of storage is more than enough for my needs. In addition to my books, I store important PDF documents for quick reference, which has made the Kindle useful beyond just reading novels. I also appreciate how easy it is to switch between light and dark mode depending on the lighting or time of day. Another feature I enjoy is the ability to listen to Audible audiobooks, making it easy to switch between reading and listening. Amazon has done a fantastic job with this Kindle. It’s fast, responsive, has excellent storage, and delivers a wonderful reading experience. A great product that I highly recommend!
