Great book!
My interest was in the D1 only, so I've purchased only Vol. 2 of the series. This book covers more than just the D1, but every part of it is interesting, and now I want Vol. 1 too. Very detailed, and contains the level of detail that I wanted. The scale drawings are excellent. Well worth my money!

A comprehensive record of this aircraft type.
Great reference book covering this make of German aircraft. Comprehensive range of photographs backed up with detailed descriptions of the planes.

Definitive
A superlative book featuring original research, new photos, and detailed color artwork and drawings. These books can be considered the definitive work on this subject.

Very thorough analysis of Junkers aircraft built during the First World War.
As in the German armored warplanes volume the information is excellent and the book is structured well. My main complaint is that even though there’s a chapter devoted solely to Junkers aircraft built after the armistice, and direct mention of the F 13(from which the excluded plane was derived)in the very same chapter, there’s no mention of the J.L.-12 ground attack aircraft. This was a strange bird manufactured by Junkers-Larsen in 1921 with a battery of Thompson submachine guns rigged to fire downwards in order to strafe trenches and infantry columns. Would’ve been nice to have a book that at least bears passing mention to such an interesting project. Frustrating!

Why two volumes for Dornier?
When compared with other titles in the same series it seems to be a very expensive exercise to buy Dornier Aircraft of WWI in two volumes when other German much more prolific aircraft builders of the same period like: Pfalz; Gotha; Roland; Aviatik; Rumpler; Siemens-Schuckert, among others, have got a single volume each.
