Its main idea is that Europe, as we know it both in terms of demography, culture and well-being, will collapse due to immigration of bad quality persons from Islamic and African third-world countries. By using common sense, statistics, verifiable facts and logic arguments, the author brilliantly analyzes the problem from a number of angles and points of view: historical, demographical, futuristic, causes, effects, symptoms, from European’s point of view, from migrant’s point of view, and even what can be done to prevent a catastrophe. In addition, the book rightfully slaps the European politicians and elites who created this crisis and started an (almost) unstoppable trend of destruction in the detriment of the people’s will. I think that the author fails to mention – or he does not state clearly enough – what most Europeans actually want. Yes, Europeans accept immigration from all parts of the world, but only in small quantities and only skilled people, who can be integrated in European society by discarding the old habits and adopting new ones. Moreover, Europeans have no problem with multiculturalism, but a multiculturalism formed of the cultures of Europe. The French, the English, the Dutch, the Germans and so on, lived here for centuries. They fought between each other, they allied with each other, and they exchanged information between each other. This is why they have societies that are close in terms of well-being: because their cultures are similar. Multiculturalism is not a purpose in itself, it is only a transition towards uniculturalism. As strong points, the book is very well researched and I also like the fact that the issue was analyzed from multiple points of view in order to remove bias as much as possible. Numbers do not lie. As weak points, first, I think that the author does not add the fact that leaders such as Victor Orban used the migrant crisis to consolidate their power and turn their countries into illiberal democracies. This, together with demonizing George Soros, “bites” from the book’s credibility. Second, while I agree with the facts presented in the book, I think that the projections and the conclusions are a little too pessimistic. Yes, if the migration trends continue like this, it is only a matter of time until Islam takes a political dimension in Europe. And that might very well be the beginning of the end. However, I know that an invading culture makes room for itself not only through terrorist attacks, but mainly through micro-aggressions. I am confident that surveillance technology will become so cheap in the near future that everybody will afford to record his life and environment 24/7. And when this thing will be available, there will be no more terrorist attacks or migrants who do not integrate and against their society of adoption. Review: Very Sobering: Human Rights Turned Upside-down! - This very interesting book is a result of Douglas Murray's recent travel and subsequent anecdotal study of Europe and his discussions with citizens and new immigrants. It is very well written, concise, and very comprehensive! Murray takes the reader across the entire Mediterranean and illustrates the ports of immigration entry into the “ Under-belly of Europe.” It appears according to the author Europe responded to the human displacement after WWII by importing millions of immigrants from colonies in The Middle-East and Africa for its depleted labor. Much of this was Muslin peoples. Chapter 8 is very disturbing where it is illustrated that Western Europe and Muslin Culture, is irreconcilable. It high-lights European individuals as: Bellestein, Fortuya, Van Gogh, Hirsi Ali, and Fallaci, all of them predicted a 'Reverse Crusade” and many of them paid the ultimate price at the hands of militant Muslims who were populating Europe at 3-4Xs faster than native Europeans. Warnings by these and others were either ignored, defamed, dismissed, prosecuted or killed without sympathy for the victims by the masses. Chapter 12 describes the forced tolerance all this immigration has provided on native Europeans that is now raising awareness of non-Europeans and in turn is inhibiting tourism to the continent. In fact Europeans societies according to Murray pay people to attack them,ie, Salah Abdeslam! The last few chapters of the book provide a prescription for altering and correcting immigration policies in Europe beginning with the commencement of politicians 'Telling The Truth” to the native European people of this problem. It is ironic, as in Germany and its influence to purify its population 90 years ago to today totally reversing this process to “De-Germanize” its people and culture! This work is predictable for what lies ahead for the USA in lawless immigration being allowed by corrupt politicians. Take heed Protestant Americans your culture and way of life is under assault! I recommend this book to all American Citizens, Europeans?- too late!

As a lover of European culture i bought the book even though I already had read and seen much on the issue of immigration from the islamic countries. The effects are devastating and Europe will never be the same. sad but true. We must be informed so this does not further spread in America! It is heartwrenching to see the rivers of refugees trying to save their lives and find a corner in our planet where to live in peace, yet at what cost to each nation?

If any of the news about violence, coming from Europe, made you curious this book will give you the whole background, from the author’s angle though. For me, I became curious after reading about car-burning in Stockholm a few months ago. I remember thinking that was quite un-European thing to happen in Stockholm. Glad to have found this book & mainly the author.

The Strange Death of Europe is a must-read, especially for Europeans. Through this account of the Continent’s modern History marked by common patterns within different countries, the reader can confront his or her observations living in Europe with the facts Douglas Murray exposes in his work. These facts, all backed up by references, give a broad perspective of the situation in Europe, how it began and how it can be explained. Having lived in Paris' suburbs for a number of years, I have seen my country change and The Strange Death of Europe confirms my observations and teaches me about events I did not know or knew so little about. Douglas Murray’s writing is also captivating and keeps the reader excited to learn more. What I loved about this book was reading about brave film makers, politicians, journalists and writers, like Oriana Fallaci, who had the courage to stand up against those who wanted to change their country for the worse and warned policymakers of the dangers facing Western Civilisation. This book is perfect for anyone willing to better understand Western Europe’s identity crisis today or simply wishing to back up their observations and experiences with facts and learn more about other countries.
