Got exactly what I wanted. A solid chunk of steel to put in the fire and set cast iron or water pots on for cleaning. All it really needs is a canvas bag to put it in as the pieces are going to get lost if left out. My daughter is in sewing class this semester, so I am going to have her make me a bag.

I was skeptical about the shiny coating coming off in the fire. I was imagining all manner of melting goo or flaking and flying chucks of coating. To my very happy surprise, neither of these happened!We took this campground camping with us and used our new 6 quart cast iron Dutch oven on it for a couple meals. The stand worked marvelously. It did get covered in ash, which is to be expected. The legs stayed shiny yet ashy. The top ring is less shiny, but is not flaking at all. There are a couple places where our Dutch oven scratched the coating a hair as we rotated our oven, but the scratch stayed and didn't spread.For being only $15, this is a WONDERFUL campfire Dutch oven stand. It's one of those hidden gems I am excited to find. It also is easy to disassemble for packing.One suggestion to the manufacture to make this even better--include a zippered canvas bag of some kind for transport as this gets fairly dirty with use and sometimes when camping we have to tear down quickly because of weather--read, "don't have time to really wipe everything down." We used a plastic bag, which is okay, but would much rather not use plastic and to use something reusable and more durable. I can't wait to go camping again and to use this and our Dutch oven some more!

I used this to heat up some water in a kettle for some late night hot cocoa. The legs screw in and are stable when assembled. I had some slight trouble unscrewing the legs after they were heated and cooled. I will update if the problem gets worse, but it could have just been some of the paint/coating getting rubbed off.Small and stable, probably should limit to 10-12" pans or pots. I would not try to put a skillet on it.

I love this! It’s perfect for my cast iron (and other pans and camp kettle) to cook over our fire pit and mostly for camping. It helps keep the bottoms of my pans a little cleaner and allows for better control of what amount of heat gets to my pans. It can be broken down for storing and is quick and easy to get set up. I don’t agree that it’s really all that adjustable as far as the legs being screwed to a certain height as I would only use this with them screwed in tightly. However, you can push the legs into the ground as far as you’d like to adjust the height as well as adjust your wood and/or coals underneath. I like that I can use this with a little bit of fire underneath or over a good bed of coals to adjust the heat I need for what I’m cooking.This is a great value at $16.97 (at time of this post.) With proper care I see this lasting a long time.

The Campfire Tripod for Dutch Oven - Camping Tripod Stand for Cooking, Portable Camp Fire Cooking Stand is a very useful accessory. I really like its design and that it comes apart for storage. It's fast and easy to put together and take apart. It's made of sturdy steel and has no problem with holding the weight of a filled Dutch oven. The height can be adjusted be pushing the legs down into the floor of the fire pit. When you're finished using it just let it cool, wipe it off and remove legs and place it in a drawstring bag for storage. It's ready to use the next time. I'm very satisfied with the Campfire Tripod for Dutch Oven and consider it a good value and an item very much worth having!

This tripod would work great with cast iron skillets, dutch ovens, and other similar devices. I do worry about the outer protective layer--I can try to update my review with more details after more and future uses. The 'adjusting' is really just a question of how tightly you screw the legs in--I think I anticipated something a little fancier (like telescoping legs). The amount of 'fine-tuning' you can do is just the length of the thread that screws into the circular part of the tripod.

These have a great takedown design that lets you take them apart for easy carrying and storing. I plan on using this with a cast iron wok to cook over an open fire. Should last a long time if properly stored and cleaned.
