Matte Pomade Midi

I didn't set out to become a pomade loyalist. I was just a person with hair, stumbling through a drugstore aisle full of products promising "extreme hold" in fonts that looked like they were designed for energy drinks. Then Uppercut Deluxe Matte Pomade entered my life, and now everything else feels like a personal insult. The hold is medium, which sounds like a compromise but is actually just correct. Your hair stays where you put it without looking like it's been shellacked to your skull in a moment of poor judgment. The matte finish means you look like a human being who styled their hair, not someone who lost a bet involving motor oil. Water-based, washes out clean. No standing in the shower negotiating with your scalp. No residue haunting you into the next morning like a bad decision. You apply it, you live your life, you wash it out. Revolutionary concept, executed flawlessly. I've been using this for years now. I've tried other things in weak moments, the way you might try a different coffee shop just to remember why you have a regular coffee shop. The results were humbling. At 3.5 oz it fits in a bag, looks good on a bathroom shelf, and smells like a man who has his life together. Whether or not the rest of your life reflects that is between you and whoever's asking. Ten out of ten. Don't switch.

This pomade is awesome! It gives a clean, natural matte look with great hold that lasts all day. Easy to apply and washes out without any residue. The scent is subtle and fresh — perfect for everyday use. Highly recommend!

So here's the deal. I've tried many different formulas of pomades over the last several years ranging from traditional, wax-based, to the more common water-based and clay-based pomades. I wanted to find something that offered a medium to firm hold without a lot of shine. This product from Uppercut states that is what it will do, and it does. However, here are some things to be aware of before you buy/use this pomade: Texture-wise, it is very light and creamy and spreads though hands and hair fairly easy. However, once the product gets into your hair, it begins to set very quickly and leaves little room for re-working after the initial application (perhaps one area where the original Uppercut Deluxe pomade delivers better). Unless you apply this to wet or slightly damp hair, be prepared for some fly-away hairs and a tougher time shaping or combing your desired hairstyle. You don't need much to apply it decently, so that's good in the sense that you shouldn't go through the tin quickly if you use it on a daily basis. If you have longer or thicker hair than mine, your findings may be different and you'll probably need more product. As for the product smell, it is a creme brulee scent, so if you don't enjoy that overly sweet scent, you may not be a fan. Once it's in your hair, the smell isn't as noticeable though. Regarding the strength of the hold, I'd say it's very much borderline medium to firm hold. Unless you apply a light dusting of hairspray afterward like I do, you may want something with a stronger hold such as the Uppercut Monster Hold or Baxter's matte clay pomade. I'll also say that if you are one to re-style or run your fingers through your hair throughout the day as I do sometimes, the hold is not as strong and eventually your hair will begin to shift/lay more naturally on your head, which is good if you want that 90s, floppy/unstyled hair look. It is a matte finish as advertised, so the shine is also minimal unless you're applying to damp hair. The stuff also washes pretty easy off your hands and out of your hair with a shower, so I had no issues there. So overall, the product works as advertised but you may need to adjust your finishing techniques or expectations to use it in the long term.

Once I was introduced to this pomade 7 years ago by a barber in Europe ive never felt the need to look for something else. I have wavy hair and keep a short fade crop/length on top. I find its perfect for my style. Never greasy with perfect hold. I couldn't be happier. Ive even introduced it to a few stylists here in the US.

Using it more than 8y in the raw. Best pomade ever. No sticky, good (medium) hold, nice smell. Like it

Best part of this, the smell. absolutely amazing. All day hold, and easily washes out. I use it with curly hair with a leave-in conditioner, and it is the best combo. 10/10 will use this product for the rest of my life. Only thing, be mindful not to throw away any of the coverings. When this stuff dries out, it becomes less fun to use and does not work in as easily.

Pazzesca, forse la migliore crema matte medium hold che io abbia mai provato. Profumazione buonissima, consistenza sempre morbida anche oltre un anno dopo l'apertura. Non da mai l'impressione di avere i capelli "pietrificati" ma sempre morbidi. Insieme alla Layrite azzurra è la mia preferita (la Layrite però ha una profumazione dolcissima che ad alcuni potrebbe non piacere e, comunque, se ne utilizzate poco per volta e la confezione vi dura molto tempo ho notato che la Layrite tende a perdere profumazione dopo 6-8 mesi).
