Military-grade (requirement for my not so graceful self), high capacity, secured, reliable and fits gracefully into my computer bag. I have used Transcend products exclusively for all my personal and publishing digital storage needs. I dont even bother looking elsewhere. This is what you want. Period.

If you are anything like me when it comes to gaming, you will want this external drive to store games that cannot fit on your system's internal drive. If you are involved in any other tasks that require data storage, this drive is also suitable for you. Games are being increasingly produced on a grand scale. It is standard for a game to be 100GB in size lately. Even if you have a large internal drive of 2TB, that means you would only be able to store twenty games or fewer on it. Avid gamers like myself know that having sufficient game space on a system is a necessity. This external drive can easily handle 40+ games of considerable. Of course, game storage is not the only ability of this external drive. With 4TB of storage space, it can hold thousands of photos, songs, videos, and files. I have downloaded 12 large game files (about 760 GB of data) onto the drive, and I still have 83% of disk space free. It is rugged and sturdy. I have dropped it too many times, and it continues to function perfectly. I always check a product's weight-to-size ratio. It is not always true, but I have found that if a small item has significant weight to it, it is built to last. The casing is of a rough, rubber-like material. The material is to keep it from being too slippery to handle. I dropped mine just because I am clumsy. The drive is a plug-and-play one. I did not have to format it or take steps to get it operating. I simply plugged it into a USB port on my computer and started saving to it. The upload and download speeds are exceptional (600MB per second). The disk reads data at 5GB per second with a rotational speed of 5200 rpm. I purposely downloaded, deleted, and rewrote data on the same sector of the disk to see if there was a degradation of the data. There was none after many attempts. I wrote those things to convey that the drive performs exceptionally. My final analysis is that I highly recommend the drive. It performs better than I thought it would and has provided a convenient place to store downloads of various media, without worrying about being able to retrieve the data readily. It is well made, and I will have this drive and its full functionality for many years to come.

I already have a transcend HD from a couple of years ago. My new Transcend took a half an hour to format. Mac Utilities had some problems erasing HD – in some cases not recognizing device and ‘erasing errors’. After several more tries I finally got an ‘initialize disc’ request from my Mac and then was able to Erase/ Mac/journaled the Transcend HD. Not sure if their software is up to date with Mac 10.14.3 – it sure was a hard to re-format! I don’t see why their packaging or inserts do not contain fast start instructions, just tiny advertising, also the online resources are lacking ( although they did get back to me in 24 hrs.). Great product though. The hardware guys got it right! A real PISSER is the packaging and serial/model##s – SO microscopic !!! Is this a conspiracy to make us all go blind???

I've used these external drives for photo storage and system backup forever and have had zero probs or failures. My original 750GB version is over 10 years old, has been around the world many times including to the Arctic and still works fine. My current 2GB version seems to be a little faster and of the same or better quality. Highly recommended! I have a number of Transcend products and they're all excellent.

I don’t write many reviews but when items are expensive I try to share my experience. This item fell off one of my end tables less than 2 feet tall and it never worked again!! The reason I had bought this particular hard drive is because another one of my hard drives had fell about the same distance and it stopped working. I went to this particular one because it was supposed to be tough and rugged! One fall and it’s no longer working!!!! Again less than 2 feet of a fall!!! Buyer beware!!!!

Der Artikel macht einen wertigen Eindruck. Die Festplatte ist leise und der Zugriff schnell. Ich nutze diese für Backups und bisher läuft die Festplatte einwandfrei.

This is the second unit I have bought and found the setup very easy, just plug it into your computer USB port, give it a few moments to connect, and you are ready to start transferring images, Excellent storage capacity, and useful to have all your files saved to a quickly detachable exterior drive.
