It looks like the limiting factor in these tests was not the USB hub, as I got roughly the same speeds for the drives plugged into the Hub as I did when plugged directly into the actual USB-C port on my computer. However, I have proven that the hub supports higher transfer speeds by testing the Samsung and Crucial drives at the same time. There was a small performance loss, but not much and overall data transfer speeds were higher than I got when I tested just one drive at a time, or when testing one drive plugged into the computer's USB-C port. The aluminium enclosure feels solid and cool in the hand, with no creaks or flex, and the compact footprint sits neatly beside a laptop without dragging the cable. In daily use, I have run a 4K monitor at 60 Hz, two external SSDs, a keyboard, and mouse while feeding power through the 100 W PD port, and everything enumerated cleanly on first connection. Data transfer over the 10 Gbps ports is consistent and close to what I see when drives are connected directly. Over longer sessions the unit becomes warm but never uncomfortably hot, which suggests sensible thermal design. The main compromise is that pass-through charging tops out below the headline 100 W once overhead is accounted for, and HDMI stability can depend on cable and display combinations.
