Incredible ear buds. I’ve purchased a ton of Soundcore stuff recently for their features and varieties and a long history of Apple AirPods and Beats studios, Monster, etc. Ear buds were basically a disposable thing to pop into my ears. I found that none of the soundcore variety stayed in my ears all too well which is a big deal since active noise cancelling (ANC) is a frequently sought out industry standard. Plus, no one seems to be able to hear me when I use them. Oh and I had one of there over the ear headphones, Q40s or something? Sounded great, ANC was impressive. Fell off my head once, and cracked. What a waste. So I decide to spend slightly more money and took advantage of a Black Friday sale. $150 later and some homework: I was looking to the Tour Pro 2s and 3s and found that the Live Beam 3s were meant to replace the Tour 2s, I decided to give these a try. First off, they’re a bit larger in the main housing so they snug to my ear better unconditional of the silicone tip size. Once I selected the smaller silicone tip, it was the most accurate fit I’ve had to date of anything I’ve tried in ear. Even better? Download the app and it will detect how effective your seal is. WHAT! I’m an audiophile in that I like good sounding music and that I believe very few thing will ever beat the organic sound of vinyl, but I won’t tell you why you need to hear a wider spectrum than 20hz to 20Khz - sorry. But they sound amazing. It’s full. It’s clear. It’s bright. Features. Features. Features. I think these have definitely set a standard in UI controlled feature set. The app is touted as one of the best and most of the feature you will frequent the app for you can do right on the cases’ built in screen. So friggin’ cool. People have argued that the ANC allows some noise to bleed through and although I understand where they’re coming from I find it to be 97% acceptable. I don’t expect to have padded room mind bending silence and I don’t know what I would do with that kind of isolation. The ambient mode allows me to keep my buds in and still not be anti social. There a cool smart talk feature that when you begin to talk it can set a period where it switches immediately to an ambient talk through mode so you can maintain your interaction interruption free. I turn it off but, how thoughtful! All in all. I’m still being wowed by this. And oh, people can hear me talk now! I also own the JBL Live 770NC. My friend has the Bose Quietcomfort headphones and side by side I think mine decimate hers. The deal breaker? She was in LaGuardia airport and I couldn’t make out a single thing she was saying. It sounded like the headphones were left under a blanket and she was whispering in the corner of the very room. For double the price, that’s shameful. I think JBL is cranking out some heat. I wouldn’t be surprised if you can get only what you can afford and if it says JBL you’ll be content.

JBL LIVE BEAM 3: Great JBL earbuds! A clear upgrade from my previous earbuds, JBL Tune 230NC TWS. Having a screen on the charger is revolutionary! I like the ability to do these different things from the charger screen: play/pause, volume, toggle between ANC and Ambient Sound Mode, change equalizer settings, change spacial sound settings, and a convenient Flashlight mode (blasts white screen, like on some smartwatches). Better than Tune 230s: I already mentioned the case touchscreen. The case layout as well is better, meaning the earbuds going in flat as opposed to straight down is much better. The fit in my ears are better too, being more comfortable, and having a lighter feel. When touching the earbuds to toggle ANC/Ambient modes, a voice tells you which mode you switched to (on Tune 230, you hear different beep tones). Sounds quality and features (personal opinion): the most welcome feature is the Spacial Sound feature! It sounds like you're listening in a big room, as opposed to listening to earbuds. I keep it on "Music" spacial sound though, because the video mode has too much echo... and I haven't tested spacial game mode enough, but for non-game, the music mode just sounds better. You can personalize your sounds settings with a 5 min test of each ear's hearing ability... I did it, I don't know if it changed anything, but it's a nice feature. Summary - overall BETTER than JBL Tune 230NC. Features: ANC - compared to the Tune 230NC, it feels like there is slightly LESS ANC, meaning I could hear a bit more outside sounds compared to the Tune 230 (this was not "heat-to-head", but just going off my feel/memory). It would be great if you could ADJUST the level of ANC. Ambient Sound Mode - This is the mode I use most, so I can still hear my surroundings (e.g. walking the dog, doing chores around the house and still able to hear kids and spouse in case they talk to me etc). This feature has ADJUSTABLE volume/effect!! This is a game-changer!! You can control how loud the ambient sound is! It's a real nice-to-have feature! Talk-Thru and Smart Talk - this is the only feature I REALLY hate, and I think it should be turned off all the time, or not even exist! Basically, while listening to music or video (YouTube for example), when it hears someone talking (or a similar sound), it will lower the volume to almost nothing, for 5 secs or more (you can adjust this). Music is supposed to pause (which I haven't tried actually), but YouTube video keeps playing, but just with very low sound. It gets annoying, and if you have Ambient Sound mode already on, you can already talk to someone through the earbuds (depending on your setting and volume). Just keep it off, IMO. Charging Case: I mentioned the great features already at the top. To add to this, I want to share that you can upload your own Lockscreen picture from your phone! BUT... You can only upload and use 1 pic at a time. If you want to change it, you have to go through the process again. It takes about 1 min to upload a pic (very slow IMO). But it's overall a nice personalizing touch. Out of the box, you'll need to upgrade the firmware on your charging pod and earbuds, and that also takes a considerable amount of time (5-10mins). Very slow transfer rate. Battery-Life of the charger is comparably lower than Tune 230, but of course it has a bright screen, and more features, so it's expected. With regular use, the charging Case can last a good 2-3 days with full charge and regular use (It might be more, if you adjust your power-saving settings). Case Screen Brightness: this is adjustable. In normal lighting, the lowest setting is fine. In bright sunlight though, you need to change it to the highest setting, or you won't be able to see the screen. IN SUMMARY: I'm very happy with these JBL Live Beam 3 earbuds and Charging Case! This was a great upgrade from my previous JBL earbuds. The price is a bit steep, but if it's on sale, pull the trigger!! Final advice: Use the Spacial Sound-Music setting, use ANC or Ambient Sounds as you see fit, and TURN OFF the Smart Talk/Talk-Thru feature!!
