When i plug it in, my abs flashed on the dash. it turns off when i remove the scan tool. what should i do? i have an 2003 toyota mr spyder.

Your ABS light is flashing because it is relaying real-time data from your vehicle to the device and is temporarily in default mode.. just make sure you remove the device before driving your vehicle

Doe sthe unit draw against battery power when vehicle is off?

It does on my xterra. The ECU also pulls power when the vehicle is off. I've not had issues with it using any more power than a phone charger.

Do I need to download a specific app for this bluetooth version scanner, and which app do you recommend?

I use Torque Pro ($5 upgrade to Pro was well worth it). I think if you have a BMW you'd want a "bimmer" app. When hauling trailers and on long trips I leave it in all the time and have (Torque) built some pages for constant dashboard display of engine load, gas mileage, temps, etc. Torque also has a trip mode to keep saving data across starts and stops for gas and such.

Works Great! Reliable and Accurate.

Arrived promptly, packaged well and with sufficient documentation. It works well and doesn't require a separate power source (e.g. battery) and connects over Bluetooth. It's only compatible with Android phones but it's clear about that in the listing and the documentation. Had no issues with reading or clearing codes at all - been a very reliable and useful tool.
