It was my first and it was only after receiving notification that it wasn't normal that I realised I might have a hemorrhoid which might affect the outcome. So being the hypochondriac that I am I decided to take a home kit to allay my fears before my online consultation. I Googled and read reviews and bought this kit based on the fact that it Google says that home tests are 92% accurate and that 5% of the remainder give a false positive. So when the online consultation happened I was pretty confident that the NHS would just sent me another test kit to iron out the discrepancy - but they don't do that. I put it down to bureaucratic restrictions and reluctantly agreed to go for a full colonoscopy utterly believing that it would come up with nothing nasty. I had the colonoscopy today and 4 polyps of varying sizes were removed for analysis. I had absolutely no idea that I had nasties growing in my colon. The fact is that 1 in 10 polyps will develop into cancer. I have been told that mine look ok but I'm not going to know for sure for another couple of weeks and that's fine because even in the worst case, it's all been found early. This test kit was very easy to use and I'm sure in most cases it is accurate but please don't believe it is as accurate as the one provided by the NHS.
